"How are you feeling?" Brian asked Nick after a show.
Nick shrugged. "OK I guess," he answered walking off. He was grateful that Brian had saved him from dying yet he was still mad for telling the other guys about the VMAs night.
Nick's stay in hospital had lasted two days; after that he had been OK to go back to the tour. The incident had been kept quiet from the public, as Nick hadn't missed any concerts nobody suspected anything.
Nick sat in his bunk on the tourbus as they made an overnight drive to the next city. It wasn't time to go to sleep yet so he played his Gameboy for a while.
After a few games he put the game away and slipped out an envelope that he had hidden under his pillow. Inside he kept pictures of his family and friends.
Nick sorted through them until he found the pictures of him and Sarah. Although when they first split up Nick had thrown most of his pictures of her away, he had saved a few. The first was of the pair of them on the beach. It was at sunset and they were sitting with their arms around each other smiling as Brent took the picture. Nick smiled at the memory, it had been a wonderful day.
The next picture was of Sarah alone, sitting by Nick's pool waving at the camera, as Nick himself had taken the photo. The next few were of Nick and Sarah playing with the pugs in his yard.
I miss her, I can't deny that, he thought. I bet she misses me too... He picked up his cell phone and dialled her number. He couldn't stop himself. For the last few days he had been considering calling her, just to see if she had changed. Maybe she was sorry...
"Hello?" Sarah answered.
Nick's heart did somersaults hearing her voice. "It's Nick," he answered.
"You're OK?" she exclaimed. "I was gonna call to check. You really worried me!".
"I'm OK now," Nick assured her. He paused. "Um, I haven't seen you in so long, what's going on with you at the moment...".
Sarah couldn't believe her luck. She had been trying to figure a way to get Nick back, since Jive had stopped the album and she was short of money. She was pleasantly surprised that Nick had called. This is my chance to snatch him back, she thought with a smile. OK let's think of something to say to get him...
"Nick I'm glad you called," she started. "I've missed you so much! I know I was mean before, taking the car, hitting you and all that, but after you'd gone I realised what a fool I was. I realized I loved you! But you'll never take me back now...". She waited for a response, hoping her little story had won his heart. She didn't really love him and she wasn't really sorry for what she had done.
"That's why I called," Nick said. "I missed you so much and I was hoping we could, you know...". He paused and swallowed. "...get back together?" he whispered.
Sarah grinned. It worked! she thought gleefully. That was so easy! "Oh Nick I couldn't think of anything I want more! I'll get a plane to wherever you are as soon as possible to be with you again!".
They made arrangements then Sarah had to go. "See you soon baby, I love you," she lied.
"Love you too," Nick replied.
Sarah hung up then straight away called Jive to tell them that she had made up with Nick.
"Um, well we were considering taking on a young female now so as we already started recording your material we could consider taking you on again," the Jive worker said.
Sarah thanked them then hung up. "Yes!" she said, punching the air in victory. "I got Nick back, I got Jive back!". I'll be a star in no time, I can't wait to get my record out!
"You look happy for once!" AJ said the next day as the guys got off the bus and went into the hotel they would be staying in.
Nick nodded. "I feel great!" he answered.
Brian smiled, he was glad that Nick was happy. Suddenly he bumped into someone. "Oh sorry!" he said.
"Watch where you're going!".
Brian couldn't believe his eyes. "Sarah?" he said, shocked. "What are you doing here?".
Nick went over to her and gave her a hug. "You don't know how happy I am to see you again," he said to her, then gave her a kiss.
The guys stared in shock. "Oh my lord! Tell me I'm seeing things!" Kevin whispered.
Nick smiled at the guys. "We're back together," he said proudly. "Come on Sarah let's go to my hotel room, we have a lot of catching up to do,".
The pair left, leaving the guys speechless.
"What is he on?!" AJ said breaking the silence.
"I can't believe this," Brian said to Leighanne. "After all she did to him...".
"I bet she's up to her old tricks again, she must have fooled him into thinking she's changed," Howie said.
"I hope this is only temporary, maybe seeing her again will make him realise they're not right together," Kevin said in a hopeful tone.
That night Sarah went off to sleep pretty quickly but Nick was too wide awake. He lay next to Sarah and stoked her hair. "Sweet dreams baby," he whispered to her.
In the moonlight he watched her sleeping peacefully. I'm so glad to have her back, he thought with a broad grin. I missed her. And she's changed, she really loves me. Everything will be fine...
He snuggled up next to her and kissed her lightly. "I love you baby," he whispered.
Nick drifted off into a happy sleep. For the first time in months he was happy.
