"Come in," Leslie whispered as she heard a knock at her door.
Nick entered. "Feelin' better, sis?"
"I guess."
"Did you tell mom yet?"
"Of course not," she sighed," she would over-re-act, Nick."
"True enough," he chuckled.
Leslie placed her hand over her stomach.
"Is your stomach hurting?"
"Well, yeah, but it's to be expected. Calm dowm Nick I'm just nervous."
Nick once again felt her forehead. "You still seem feverish."
"I'm okay, really."
Nick sighed. "Leslie, I'm your older and I hardly ever see you so when I do it's important to try to look out for your well-being."
"That's sweet," Leslie grinned, "but really I am okay."
Brian entered. "Hey, guys. Ready to play some ball Nick?"
"I don't think so. I better stay here with Leslie."
"Why?" Brian set beside the teenager. "Are you okay, sweetie?"
She rolled her eyes. "Yes."
"She's been sick this morning. she thinks it's nerves, but I'd like to stay with her just to make sure," Nick explained.
Brian took note of Leslie's annoyance. "I'm sure she's right. "
Nick looked in her tired eyes. "I'm not so sure. She has a fever."
"It's a mild fever," Brian stated as he felt her forehead. "Let's just her let nap and have some peace and quiet. That'll do her a world of good."
Nick nodded handing her his cell. "Page me if you feel worse."
"I will."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
Brian led him out the door. "Come on, buddy. Let's give her some space."
Nick started dribbling. "All right, Rok, but fair warning I'm gonna whoop your butt!"
"Sure you are," he laughed.
Brian flashed a thumbs ups sign as walked out the door and mouthed."I'll keep him busy.Get some sleep."
Leslie smiled, but her smile should faded as the door shut. She held her stomach and fought tears as she fell asleep.
