Chapter One

(Almost 16 years later, 15 years and a few months)

Jane Carter stood at her dinning room table. Her daughters Leslie and Angel stood next to her.

"What do you buy for a guy who has pretty much everything?" Angel asked. Her brother's birthday was in three months. It was a little early to be thinking about it, but you had to, considering who he was.

"How about new scuba gear?" Leslie suggested.

"No we got him that last year." Jane sighed.

"Playstation games?" suggested Angel.

"Nope, he has about 250 of them." Suddenly the front door opened.

"Oh! Angel go stall Nick!" Jane whispered.

The little girl nodded and ran into the hallway jumping up onto her brother.

"Angel! I wasn't gone that long." the 19-year-old laughed.

"Don't be silly Nick, yes you were, You were gone for a whole two weeks. I missed you." Nick struggled to release his 12-year-old sisters' grip.

"Hello Nickolas, where are your manners come say hello to your mother." Jane laughed. Angel jumped off and ran outside.

"Hello mom" Nick hugged the woman he called mother, but for some reason, she didn't feel like his mother.

"I'll have to say hello to the others around dinner. I'm real tired." His kissed his mother on the cheek and made his way to his room.

Nick lay down on the soft mattress, but he didn't sleep. He kind of feared to sleep. The dreams started coming about a month ago.

It's always of this beautiful forest, and this girl that has dark blue eyes, bright blonde, almost white hair, and... wings. Like a fairy. And sometimes he sees a woman. Her smile is warm and welcoming, she has a voice like an angel, dark green eyes, and dark blonde hair. Nick rested his arms underneath his head.

He turned his head to the left and saw the picture of him and his girlfriend, Jo. She had pretty brown hair, it looked red in the light sometimes. And dark brown eyes. Nick smiled to himself. Then he slowly let the smile leave his face. All he wanted to do was make Jo happy, but the harder he tried the worse she felt. Last time he seen her, she had cuts on her wrists. She thought that he didn't see them, but he had.

"Nickolas!" Nick opened his eyes and looked around. He wondered how long he had been asleep. "Yeah, Mom, I'm coming!" he called back. He sat up and rubbed his face and pushed back his hair. It was almost dark out, he looked in the corner of his room. He could have sworn he seen a faint trace of a woman.

He rubbed his eyes and looked again. No one was there. He yawned and got up, to go downstairs. As he stood in his doorway someone whispered, "Soon". He gave a confused look and slowly shut his door.
