Chapter Six

Nick spent the whole next day in his room sleeping. On his last day there, there was a knock on the door. He wondered how he could hear it because the door was stone. He watched as it slowly opened. "Hello." Nick burst into tears running to his mother.

She held him in her arms. "Quiet my little boy. Calm now." she whispered.

Nick continued to sob into his mother's shoulder.

"I remember when I'd hold you when you were little, you would just cry and shiver.". She smiled. "I missed you, I wish you didn't have to leave, you can never come back". She lifted his face into her hands and kissed his forehead.

"Mummy." he whimpered.

She smiled. "I love you so much." she hugged him. "Come on lets go sit down.". Destiny pulled Nick over to the bed. She sat down and pulled him down onto her lap. She sat stroking his hair and humming.

"Who was my father?" he asked suddenly.

"Your father?" she replied.

"Yeah, who was he?".

There were a couple minutes of silence. "Do you think I'd just drop you on an unknown person's doorstep?" she laughed.

Nick was obviously puzzled.

"Your father is in fact the man that raised you. He of course doesn't know that it was you, you as in my child, but he is your father." she explained.

Suddenly Lucy stepped in. "Nick its time to go." she said quietly. Lucy was going to miss Nick with all her heart. He was her best friend. But she was angry with him for making her be the queen.

Nick sat up and nodded. He took his mother's hand and followed Lucy down the hall and out in to another garden. Nick stood inside of a stone circle. A mist was beginning to form around it. His mother and Lucy were beginning to fade out. "Good bye my child. I love you." His mother was crying. Lucy had turned away. His mother took something off and tossed it into the circle. "Take this to your father!" she called. And the enchanted land was gone...

Nick slowly opened his eyes. A beeping noise woke him up. He looked around and noticed he was in the hospital. It was dark out, and he seen his mother Jane his father, his brother and sisters all sleeping around the room. How long was he out? He thought it was only three days, but how long had it really been? A low light flicked on and a doctor opened the door.

"Mrs. Carter?" he whispered shaking the woman. No one had noticed Nick was awake yet.

Nick's mother and father sat up slowly. "Have you decided to turn off Nick's life line?" he asked. By now Leslie and BJ were awake and crying. The crying had waked up Angel.

"Yes, I think its what he would want." Nick's father whispered holding his wife.

Aaron slowly sat up. " What's going on?" he asked sleepily.

"We've decided to turn off the machines, its no use. Nick is still in a coma.".

Nick couldn't speak because of the stupid tube down his throat.

"No! you can't kill my brother!" he yelled, trying to make it to Nick. But his father blocked him and scooped him into his arms.

Nick began to get afraid. He began to think they wouldn't notice he was alive and that they would kill him. He tried to move. Thankfully it worked. He began to kick and his heart monitor went up. The doctor rushed over.

"He's awake!" he called. He pulled the tape off the tube over Nick's mouth and began to pull the tube out. Nick bent over the side of the bed and began to cough. He didn't realize it before but he was holding something. Slowly he sat up and opened his hand. It was a necklace. Engraved on the bad of a silver fairy, was 'You're my Destiny, love forever Bob.' His mother's necklace.

He looked up. "Dad, its me.".

His father looked puzzled. "Could you all leave Nickolas and I alone please.". Everyone left and Nick watched his father. "Nicky, what are you talking about." he asked taking Nick's hand.

Nick let half of the necklace drop from his hands. "Where did you get that?" Bob whispered.

Nick had tears in his eyes. "Mummy."

Bob took the necklace and looked at it. "You're... your Destiny's son.". He pushed back some of Nick's hair.

"Yeah, that's where I was Daddy, I was in the enchanted, with Mummy."

Bob was shocked. "So all this time, I never knew.". Bob stood up and began to pace.

"There isn't any way I can go back dad, I miss Mom and Emma Star." Nick began to cry.

"Emma Star?" his father asked.

"Yeah, the princess."

Bob was about to say something , but his mother and sisters and brother walked in. "How are you feeling?" his mother whispered.

"What happened?" Nick didn't know why he was in the hospital.

"The night you found out you were adopted, you got upset and went for a drive. It was raining out. You lost control of the car and skidded off of a small cliff. We were sure you were dead when they called. But you were in a coma. We were going to pull you off life support because you were on it for a month and nothing happened.".

Nick was confused. " A month?".

His mother nodded. "Three days." his father whispered.

"It feels like three days.". His father smiled.

The doctor walked in. "Well your son looks in perfect health. But I want to keep him a couple more days before you take him home." The family nodded and began to file out.

"Dad" Nick called. His father walked over to him. "How did you know?" he asked.

Nick's father smiled. I met your mother by accident. I somehow fell into the enchanted. I had three days before I could come home. The next full moon. But as she was fading out she yelled I'm going to have your baby. And I tossed her the necklace. When I woke up I was in the hospital, from a driving accident. In a coma, for a month.". Bob leaned down and hugged his son tightly. He kissed his cheek and left the room turning off the light.
