Well that was not the only bad news. Andrew returned moments later with the great news that the bus had gone bonkers and that we would have to stay in Cleveland. So we checked into the nearest hotel.
Since Mrs. McLean had told us a day before she would catch up with us in Columbus, we were the only ones there. And I was the ONLY woman there. So we had 5 rooms, but the problem was...who would sleep with whom?
It was understood we were security and we had to look after the guys but do you realize something? Well duh I'm a girl and AJ is a boy...gee great discovery Marianne. We finally reached a settlement in which AJ and I would be in the same room, separate beds. What did you expect?
I opened the door and turned on the lights. The room looked cozy in spite of the thunder outside. It sorta reminded me of when I was in college and we would go on field trips, only we didn't stay in Ramada Inn's.
Immediately AJ stepped in front of me and dove to the bed in front of the TV.
"HEY! That bed is mine!" I shouted and made a great show of trying to get him off.
"First come, first served." He said draping himself dramatically on the bed.
"Get off!"
"Make me!"
"You'll be sorry you ever said those words."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah!" I giggled and started tickling him.
"That's not fair!" he said in between laughter, and reached out to tickle me, I wiggled out of reach.
"Then get off MY bed mister!"
Just as I was about to gain victory the lights went off. I don't know how, but we ended up on the floor.
"OUCH!" I said sucking in my breath. I had fallen on my elbow, and AJ had fallen onto me.
"Umm, AJ?"
"Yes?"
"You're heavy."
He laughed and got off, helping me get up.
"Thanks."
"Are you ok?"
"Fine. Now where did I leave my flashlight"
"Freeze."
"What?" I said turning around to AJ, he stood there with his eyes wide opened.
"What?"
"Marianne, no."
"No, what? AJ you're freaking me out."
"I told you not to freakin' move!" I turned the other way and saw a tall figure, then I heard a shot and that was that.
