Denise was in her room listening to the Millennium CD by the Backstreet Boys. She was friends with Brian and like no one believed her at all. She was mad. Her best friends, Nicole and Cassie, however, did believe her. They were there when Denise answered the door. They also caught Denise when she fainted.

She called Brian just about everyday. They were like two peas in a pod. Inseparable is what Brian and Denise's parents called them. Brian was 25 but Denise was only 18. They both had 'significant other's. They weren't going out with each other.

Denise called Brian one day and he didn't answer the phone. She was confused because Brian's cell phone has caller ID and he always answers her calls. "Brian, answer the phone darn it!" Denise said. She hung up and called Nick. He answered the phone. "Nick, is Brian there?" Denise asked not knowing of the news she would be receiving.

"Denise, thank God you called. Brian's sick. He's talking and all but he is just terribly sick. I know you live in Kentucky and all but Brian said he wants you to come down here." Nick said.

"He's sick? How did he get sick? Why is he sick? Can I bring Cass and Nicole down here also?"

"I'll explain it to you guys when y'all get down here."

"Okay. I'll be down there later tonight. Can you or someone go to the airport and pick me up? I'm gonna take the first flight out."

"Yeah, I'll have Kevin go get you."

"Thank you and tell Bri I love him."

"Okay, bye."

"Bye."

Denise started to cry and wonder. She called Nicole and Cassie. She used three way calling. " Nicole, I need you to go to Florida with me. It is very urgent and we have to take the first flight out." Denise said.

"Denise, slow down. Why the first flight? You are acting like someone is dying. Is it Brian?" Nicole asked.

"He's not dying but he is terribly sick. He wants me down there."

"I'll go with you. Is Cassie going?"

"I still have to ask her."

"I'll meet you at the airport then, okay?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, bye."

"Bye."

Denise called Cass and it was the same conversation. Denise was panicking while talking to her. Denise hung up and went to the airport with Cass. She was crying the way there. When she got to the airport, she grabbed money from her purse and paid for tickets. The plane was leaving in 10 minutes. She got there just in time. She talked to Nicole and Cassie. Nicole was upset just as much as Cassie. Cassie was just as upset as Denise was.

They boarded the plane and were on their way to Florida. It was already 3 in the afternoon. Denise called to tell Kevin to pick them up at the airport at 5:30. Kevin sounded upset.

After 2 12 hours, the plane finally landed and unboarded the passengers. Denise grabbed Nicole and Cass to get off the plane at least the first people off. They were and Denise found Kevin easily. She ran up to him. "Kevin, where is he? How is he? How are you?" Denise asked.

"I'm okay. Bri is really really sick. Nick is at the hospital with him." Kevin said.

"The hospital? It's that bad? Denise, I say you did the right thing letting us come with you. If we hadn't, you probably would have gone nuts." Nicole joked.

Well, we had better get back to the hospital. Nick and the others are gonna wonder about where I went to."

"Yeah, I want to see my friends." Denise said.

Kevin had asked where everyone's luggage was and got the reply of they didn't have any. He couldn't believe it. He went to bring the car around. Turns out it was Brian's car. Denise was used to sitting in the front seat of it.

At the hospital, Kevin led the girls to Brian's room. Denise went in and walked slowly to the bed. She didn't believe what she was seeing. There were cords and wires hooked up to him. There was a heart monitor and a breathing monitor hooked up to him. Brian turned his head towards Denise. " Denise, it isn't as bad as it looks." Brian said barely whispering.

"Don't talk. You have to rest." Denise said.

"Denise, I want to talk to you. Come with me." Nick said as he led her out to the waiting room. " Sit down. You're gonna have to. Denise, Brian has severe mononucleosis. In other words, mono. Do you know what that is?"

"Yeah. Sadly, I do."

"Well, the doctor's said that Bri may not survive. He doesn't know about this. We are all afraid to tell him. He's sick enough as it is."

"He doesn't know what's wrong with him? The doctor has to tell him! I mean, if he dies, we'll all know and no one else will. It's not that good."

"Mono is an unexplainable virus that lives in the body. You know what it is. Denise, if it is this severe, we are gonna have to have someone tell him. You're his best friend, you tell him."

"You're his best friend also! Have the doctor tell him. It's the best thing."

"I know that but"

"Nick, I'm going in there. I'm sure you'll do the right thing and have the doctor tell him."

"Oh alright!"
