Freyja tried not to stare as Nick walked closer towards her. She looked down awkwardly, blushing. He was so good-looking in real life!

Deb and Grace both smiled. "Hi Nick," they said at the same time.

He gave them a smile. "Hi girls,".

Freyja looked up and her eyes met Nick's. She opened her house to say something but she couldn't speak. She was nervous!

Deb noticed this and helped her friend out. "Nick, this is our new friend Freyja. She here on vacation this summer,".

"Hi," Nick said, making Freyja's heart jump.

"Hi," she managed to say.

One of the guys called Nick over so he went across the room. Freyja turned to Deb. "Thanks, I got tongue tied!".

"No problem," Deb answered. "Hey, It's my birthday on Saturday and I'm having a party at my house. Nick will be there. Wanna come?".

Freyja was delighted. "I'd love to. Thanks!".

The girls gossiped all afternoon, and just as Freyja was thinking of leaving, Nick came over to their table. "What time's your party Deb?" he asked. "I've forgotten,".

"Eight PM," she told him. "So you can still make it?".

He nodded. "Yeah, see you then,".

Freyja stood up. "I'd better go now, see y'all here tomorrow?".

"Yeah, we'll be here," Grace said.

Freyja walked out of the door and saw Nick was on his way out too.

He saw her and smiled. "You name's Freyja right?" he asked.

"That's right," she said, her heart beating fast.

"That's a pretty name," he complimented. "What way are you going? I'll give you a ride if you want,".

She told him where her hotel was. "That's on the way to my house, I'll take you,".

"Thanks, you're very kind," Freyja said as she followed Nick into his car.

They drove in silence. Freyja couldn't help feeling scared for Nick as they sat in the car, knowing that, unless she did something to prevent it, he and his car would be in an accident in a couple of months. It was an awful thought.

"Thanks for the ride," Freyja said as he pulled up by her hotel. "I'll see you at the party, or at the arcade again maybe,".

"You're going to the party?".

"Yeah,".

"Cool, see you there!".

Freyja waved as he drove away and went into the hotel. She was happy about meeting Nick but wished she'd tried to make conversation. She was quite shy and didn't know what to say to him...

"This party is real cool!" Freyja said as she and her girls stood around by the pool on Saturday night. It had been going for a couple of hours and everyone was having fun.

"There's Nick, go talk to him," Grace urged Freyja.

Freyja blushed. "What do I say?".

"Just say hi, then see what happens," Deb suggested. "I think he likes you, he keeps smiling in your direction.

Freyja blushed. "Yeah right. Hmm, maybe later I'll talk to him. I'll have to think of what I'm gonna say,".

"Better grab him quick," Deb said. "He's not long split with his girlfriend so lots of girls are after him. Make a move fast!".

"OK," Freyja said. "I'll talk to him soon. Come, let's go get our drinks refilled,".

The girls went to the shed where the drinks were stored. Freyja put down her empty glass and poured out some coke.

Deb's brother came in and smiled. "Come on girls, have something more than that!". He picked up a bottle of Vodka. "Put some of this in it,".

Deb rolled her eyes. "Brad, maybe they don't want to get drunk like you do!".

"But we're not old enough," Freyja said.

"So? You won't get caught!" Brad assured her.

Freyja shrugged. "Just put a little bit in, not much,". She wasn't one to drink much, but decided that a little bit would help her loosen up and be able to talk to Nick with more ease.

Brad poured some into her glass of coke and she took a sip. They went back outside into the party, it was getting dark but colorful lights lit up the whole back yard. People stopped to wish Deb a happy eighteenth.

"What did you do for your eighteenth?" Grace asked Freyja.

"Not much," she said. She had spent the day in her block-house with her great-grandparents, no party. "I didn't have a huge celebration,".

"Oh. Well make sure you have a huge party for your twenty-first!".

The girls hung out dancing and talking to guests until half an hour later when Brad came up to them with some of his friends. "Hey babes, we wanna play spin the bottle,".

Deb laughed. "Sounds fun. But I'm not kissing you, my own brother!".

Grace found an empty coke bottle and they went to the end of the yard behind the shed, sitting in a circle.

"I haven't played this in years!" Grace laughed. "OK, I'll go first,".

They played for some time laughing over who had to kiss who. Nick then came along, holding his glass. He smiled. "Can I join in?" he asked.

"Yeah, of course!" Freyja said, feeling more outgoing after her drinks.

Nick had been drinking too. "Let me have a go,".

It wasn't long before Freyja and Nick had to kiss. He looked at her and smiled, making her blush and turn away.

"Go on!" Deb exclaimed, pushing them closer together.

Nick stood up and took Freyja's hand. "Come with me,". He led her away from the circle.

"Where are we going?" Freyja asked.

"In here,". Nick led her into the shed and shut the door, bolting it. He then lent forwards and started to kiss her.

The kiss lasted a long time. Neither of them wanted it to end. "When I saw you last week, I through you were so pretty," Nick said as they took a breather. "But you know me, I'm shy,".

"Why now?" Freyja asked.

"I dunno, well...".

Freyja lent forwards and pressed her lips on his, starting another long make-out. They were interuppted by a banging at the door.

Nick broke away and laughed. "Ignore them,".

"But we better go out in a moment, they might think that we're...".

"Don't worry about what they think," Nick said, taking her in his arms again.

They kissed again, then heard some shouts.

"Come on, we want to get to the drinks!" they heard Brad shout.

Freyja laughed. "We'd better let them in,".

Nick unbolted the door. "Sorry man...".

Brad laughed. "It's OK!". He picked up a bottle of beer and opened it. "Another, Nick?".

He nodded. "Sure,". He winked at Freyja. "We'll get back to that later,".

She laughed and left him with Brad, after pouring herself another drink. She found Grace sitting on the bench outside. "Have fun in there?" she laughed.

Freyja smiled, still feeling wonderful after the kissing. "Yeah... but we were only kissing, nothing else!".

"Is he a good kisser?".

Freyja nodded. "Excellent. But something I don't understand... I though he wasn't the partying, drinking kinda guy,".

Grace nodded. "Yeah, he's not usually. But his girlfriend left him not long ago and he's hurt about that. I think this is his way of forgetting about her and having fun,".

"Oh. I get it. He's using me because he's not had any action recently...".

'No, I think he really likes you. Seriously,".

"You think so?".

"Yeah. When the bottle landed on other girls, he just had a quick kiss on the lips. But when it landed on you he took you in the shed for ten minutes! That's really saying something," Grace said.

"I hope so, I mean I really like him," Freyja said with a smile. "So where's birthday girl?".

"Deb is... I don't know. She went off with some guy her brother knows, he was real hot!".

"Now we need to fix you up with someone!" Freyja joked. "What about Brad?".

Grace made a face. "No way! My best friend's brother? And did you see how stupid he's acting tonight? He's been drinking too much...".

The girls talked for a while until a fast song they liked came on. They got up and started dancing, singing along.

"May I have a dance?" Nick asked, approaching her from behind.

She turned to him and smiled. "I'd love to,".

Brad was by his side. "Come on Grace, you and I can dance too,".

A slower song came on and Freyja sunk into Nick's arms. She melted and her heart soared, loving being in that position.

"Come on, let's kiss again," Nick said into her ear.

Freyja smiled and nodded. "Yeah, let's find somewhere quiet,". After filling up their drinks, she led him into the house and they searched for an empty room...
