Freyja stood in front of her mirror, admiring her reflection. In the new pink tank-top and silver slinky pants she'd gotten that day, she thought she looked good, and hoped Nick would agree. They were going on a date to the movies that evening.

Freyja couldn't help smiling. She'd had a wonderful day. She'd gone shopping with Deb and Grace, and Nick had called her twice to check she was still on for the date. Not that she had any intentions of cancelling! Freyja was crazy about Nick, now that she knew him personally.

She stood combing her shiny raven hair, dreaming of Nick. She couldn't wait to see him again. With a smile, she reached for her 'miracle shine' lotion and ran it through her locks. There were some things from the future she couldn't leave behind, such as her beauty products. Miracle shine was a solution which could smooth even the dullest hair into glowing locks. She also had brought large supplies of skin glow. Not that she needed it much in the year 2000 since she was out in the sunshine a lot. In the twenty-second century nobody went outside due to the poisonous air, so people relied on vitamin-enriched lotions to give their skin a healthy glow.

After applying some super-shine lip gloss, also from the future, Freyja took her purse and left the hotel, to wait outside for Nick to pick her up.

He soon came, parking his Mercedes by the sidewalk. "Jump in," he said with a smile, lowering his shades.

"In disguise?" she asked him with a laugh.

He laughed too. "Yup! I can't go to the movies without my hat and shades, as I'd soon be spotted,". He looked at Freyja and his eyes widened. "You look beautiful," he breathed.

She blushed. "Thanks," she said, going shy again.

Nick drove them to a cinema on the outskirts of Ruskin. "What do you wanna see?" he asked her.

Freyja shrugged. "Whatever, I really don't mind,". Truth was, she'd seen every movie the cinema was playing, since she has them all on microdisk on her computer. She loved 'old' movies.

They went into the cinema and stood around looking at what was playing. "The only one I'd really like to see isn't on for two hours," Nick said sadly.

"We don't have to catch a movie," Freyja told him. "After all, we'd be sitting there not talking. Why don't we go someplace else?".

Nick nodded. "Sure. Have you eaten yet?".

She shook her head. "Nope,".

"I'll take you out to my favorite pizza place,".

"Cool,".

Half an hour later, the couple were sitting in a classy pizza restaurant by a window overlooking the ocean. A waiter took their orders then left them alone. "Like it here?" Nick asked.

Freyja smiled and nodded. "Yup!". She loved the restaurant, loved the food- since in the future they didn't have 'proper' food, and loved Nick's company.

Nick took off his hat and smiled at her. "I doubt any fans will be in here!" he laughed.

But at that moment, a couple of younger girls and their family walked by, the girls spotting Nick and letting out cries. "You spoke too soon!" Freyja joked.

Nick gave the two girls autographs then they left him in peace. "I don't mind giving an autograph or two," Nick told Freyja. "But it's much worse usually, especially in the mall. Take off my shades and I cause a riot!".

Freyja smiled. "I'll buy you some extra-dark shades for Christmas!" she joked.

Soon the waiter returned, with their huge, steaming hot pizza to share. Nick licked his lips. "Mmmmm, looks tasty!".

Freyja's mouth was watering too. "Mmmm, it looks great,".

It didn't take them long to eat it. "Fancy some chocolate cake?" Nick asked Freyja, motioning to the photo on the desert menu.

Her eyes grew large as she eyed the delicious-looking cake. "Oh yeah!".

Nick grinned. "Me too. I'm supposed to be on a diet, but one piece of cake can't hurt,".

"Why are you on a diet?" Freyja quizzed. "There's nothing wrong with your weight,".

Nick frowned. "I could do with losing a few pounds,".

"Don't take it too far," Freyja said, looking him in the eye. "I've heard of people that take dieting to the extremes and end up getting very ill,".

"You're so sweet," Nick told her. "My last girlfriend was totally the opposite- she encouraged my dieting and always said I was too fat,".

"That's terrible!" Freyja exclaimed.

Nick nodded. "Yeah. I hope I never see her again, she was such a bitch!".

After eating the chocolate cake, Nick and Freyja left the restaurant and went to sit on a quiet spot by the ocean. "I feel sick now, I ate too much!" Freyja laughed.

"Me too," Nick said, pretending to throw up.

"Gross!" Freyja cried. They sat down on the sand, laughing.

"You know Freyja..." Nick said once they'd calmed down. "...I really enjoy your company. You're such an interesting person,".

Freyja blushed. "Thanks, I love being with you too,".

"And you're so concerned about me...".

"I just... care about you, you know...".

"You're a caring person, aren't you? I know you're into all those Earth issues,".

Freyja nodded. "Yeah,".

"Tell me more about what you do,".

"Well," Freyja started. "I'm a member of the Tampa Environment Club, we are campaigning for more laws to protect the environment and cut down on pollution,". She frowned as she pictured her destroyed world. "I believe that if we don't do something about it now, man will destroy this Earth,".

"How do you mean?" Nick asked curiously.

"You love Florida, right? Well if global warming continues, ice caps will melt, causing the oceans to overflow onto low lying land. Florida will be one of the first places to go underwater,".

"What?" Nick cried. "That's terrible!".

"That's just the start," Freyja continued. "Global warming could cause weather extremes, so many areas of the world would be too hot or cold to live in. Everyone would have to move to safer parts of the world, causing overcrowding. Then wars could break out over this...".

"You're scaring me!" Nick said, his eyes wide. "Gosh, I never really though about this before. So when do you think all this will happen?".

"I'd say within the next ten, twenty years...".

"That's awful. Well I hope your campaigning works,".

"Me too,".

Nick looked into Freyja's eyes. "You know, I really enjoyed Deb's party, when we went in the shed...".

So did I," she said, her lips curling into a smile.

Nick took her in his arms and gave her a long, sweet kiss.

Freyja's heart did somersaults, any unhappy thoughts disappearing from her mind. She loved kissing Nick.

Nick took her hand and they walked back to the car. "Still want to catch that movie?" he asked her.

"Sure," Freyja said, still smiling from the kiss.
