Jane Carter sat cozily by her roaring fireplace. Her and her husband had just gotten married no more than a month ago. They were still in the phase of romantic evenings. It was January 1980 when the biggest surprise of their lives lay waiting for them outside in the snow.
"Jane honey, did you let the dog in?" Bob called from inside the kitchen.
"No sorry I'll let
him in right now. You better have a nice glass of wine ready for
me mister." She joked as she stood up wrapping her silk bathrobe
around her body. Jane walked through their New York apartment
briskly to the door. When she opened it she didn't except to see
the little boy tucked
warmly into a basket. With their beloved Doberman Pinscher Sabbath
curled around him.
"Oh my God! Bob come here look at this." Jane called.
Bob ran from the kitchen half expecting his dog to be frozen to death outside. "A baby?" He whispered picking up the basket.
The little baby smiled and laughed clapping his hands as Jane tickled his tummy. "Look Bob there is a note." She picked up a piece of paper that lay folded neatly next to the baby.
She read it aloud. "Please take care of my son." The letter was short and simple.
Jane fell in love with this little blonde haired, blue eyed, bundle of joy the moment she held him in her arms.
A few years went by as the couple watched the young boy they called Nick, grow to be almost three years old. That was when Jane had her 'First' child Bobbie Jean on January 12, 1982.
The being that brought
the young boy to them watched the family all the time, mostly
Nick. Jane had more children following BJ and their adopted child
Nick. Although it was important to them, it wasn't as important
to December as the birth of the girl child Nick would soon have
the liberty of meeting.
Journey Andrea Smith born October 22, 1982.
Nick would meet her when he was fourteen years old. At a banquet that would fold the future out between the two.
