Seventeen-year-old Journey sat on the couch eating popcorn with her 21-year-old gay brother Trent, Journey laughed as his boyfriend sat with them. Trent and his boyfriend Douglas owned a small clothing store where Trent designed them and Douglas made them.
Journey and the two men were watching a film of hers, where she played a fifteen-year-old girl named Piper that had dreams of her past. Journey chewed nervously, she had been having dreams. Nice ones but dreams none the less.
They were strange, some with her dancing with a boy, she remembered him. Nick Carter, they were sweet on each other for a night. The other one though was different, she knew it had a meaning.
She and Nick were sent to earth by a beautiful woman, they were here to protect her daughter who was in a lot of trouble for being a witch. She, Nick and the little girl moved to the west to live and raise the child until her powers were full enough to leave.
"Jay, Doug would like some popcorn."
Journey snapped out of
her trance to hand over the popcorn. The dreams had become so
intense that she even wondered if Nick felt them too. But that
was just a childish silly thought. She excused herself
and got up to go to the backyard, to watch fifteen-year-old, Brett
and Justin swim in their pool. The boys splashed around frantically
trying to grab at a basketball. Her sister Rachel was off to a
corner talking to one of her friends. Journey decided to go over
to them.
"Hey Rach."
Rachel smiled. "Journey this is my friend Leslie Carter. Leslie this is my sister Journey."
Journey's face was in pure awe; this little girl in the pool with her sister was Nick Carter's sister. Leslie seemed to have the same expression.
"My brother... he talks about you all the time... he says he has been having strange dreams that are connected to you."
Journey swallowed. "Leslie, what is your number I need to speak with him."
Leslie shrugged, "I'll give it to you, but he isn't there."
Journey was getting impatient; Nick was her one true link to these dreams. "Well where is he?" She urged the girl on.
"I don't know, but he has his cell phone."
Journey finally got the cell number out of Leslie and immediately ran to call Nick. She let the phone ring about five times before his voice mail finally picked up.
"Sup this is Nick, hey listen leave a message at the beep and I'll call you back. Thanks bye."
Journey listened to the little five second beat of music and then finally the beep. "Nick? Nick are you there? Please pick up, it's Journey, we need to talk, I think you know what it is about." Journey sighed and before hanging up she tried again.
"Nick are you sure you're not there? Okay I guess not, call me back." She gave her number and hung up the phone. Quietly she walked back into the living room to finish the movie.
Nick sat in his Durango soaking wet. Aaron grinned widely, and it made him look like the cat on Alice in wonderland. He looked at his watch and seen it was way past 8:30.
"Thanks Nick for taking me here. It was fun."
Nick laughed and shook his wet hair, flying drops at his brother.
"Hey Nick look your phone is blinking." Aaron picked up Nick's cell. "I think you have a message."
Nick clicked his cell phones message button and waited as it was played back to him. He began to back out of the parking lot, but stopped as soon as he heard the name.
"Nick? Nick are you there? Please pick up, it's Journey, we need to talk, I think you know what it is about."
Nick listened intently, he listened to her breathing on the other end.
"Nick are you sure you're not there? Okay I guess not, call me back. 923-3325" He heard a click.
"Who was that? Who ever it was... they almost got us killed." Aaron pointed out his window at an angry man who had his girlfriend and six kids in a van.
"Sorry!" Nick yelled out the window. Nick drove quickly home and got to the phone as fast as he could. True it was almost midnight, but both he and Journey knew about the dreams, they had to figure them out.
As soon as he reached the phone he seen a little sticky tab hanging next to it. Nick, phone call from Journey said meets her at the beach any time, she'll be there all night. Very important.
Nick took his keys back off the key ring and jumped into his SUV.
Journey was awaken by her phone ringing. "Hello?" she answered groggily.
"Hey this is Nick, meet me at the beach." Journey heard a click on the other line. Slowly she hung it up and groaned.
Nick waited patiently at the beach, maybe she wasn't coming. The moon shone over the waves crashing into the shore. He loved it at night, so peacefully.
Suddenly Nick seen the high beams of an old Ford Explorer. "You called me down here at midnight?" Journey yawned as she came closer.
"I didn't call you, you left my parents a message to meet you here." Journey was wide-awake by now.
"You didn't leave the message did you?"
Journey opened her mouth to speak, but the beautiful woman walking out of the ocean captured them both.
"I sent those things." She whispered.
"But..." Journey tried to say.
The woman put up her finger to quiet her. "I will explain. The dream you have both been having, that was a hint to you. Your destiny is to be the protectors of my daughter Isabelle. When she turns ten years old, she will use her magic in public... on you two. Well she will if you don't act now."
Nick was confused already. "Why us?"
The woman seemed to chuckle.
Nick didn't see anything to laugh at. "She will want to play
match maker.
Well a witch hunter will see her and she will burn at the stake
at fifteen. You cannot let this happen, she is the protector of
our world."
"Well what do you want us to do." Journey asked.
"You need to take
her away from Florida, take her to a small state somewhere west.
Raise her until the
age of fifteen, then she will do the rest in coming home. If you
like I will arrange it so when this time hits, you two will go
back in time, and finish your lives without ever meeting each
other."
Everything seemed so imaginative. "Well?" She urged.
"Can we choose when that time comes?" Nick asked.
The woman smiled "Yes of course."
She began to walk away. "Wait!" Nick called.
As if reading his mind Journey finished the thought for him, "What about our careers?"
The woman smiled again. "That will be taken care of."
Nick looked at Journey his eyes wide. "What?" she asked.
Suddenly she knew. "Oh my God..." she whispered.
