Journey looked around the new house in Oregon. Nick had chosen a good one. It wasn't a big house but it wasn't small either. It had a large basement, A big steady attic that would make a great playroom. There was a creme colored carpet, a kitchen with an island, four nice sized rooms, a large den with a stone fireplace and a really nice backyard with a light wood fence surrounding it.
Journey felt Nick come behind her and take her waist. He kissed her bare shoulders, she smiled and leaned back. "How about that baby?" Nick laughed.
Nick and Journey had left Zoe and Zac at Brian and Leigh's house back in Tampa while they got settled. Journey hoped that Zoe didn't use any of her magic while she was there.
Nick kissed along her neck. "Nick I was thinking about Zoe."
"Yeah?" He asked swaying his hips like they were dancing.
"What happens when she leaves?"
Nick stopped rocking. "I don't know." He whispered.
Journey turned to face him. "Nick I don't want her to go. What about Zac, he will be thirteen when she leaves, don't you think he'll notice his fifteen-year-old sister suddenly disappeared."
Nick pulled her close to his chest and kissed her. "Nick I don't want to leave any of our children."
He hugged her tightly. "Maybe we won't have to." He whispered into her ear.
"I hope not."
Another four years had passed. Zoe had just made her tenth birthday. The day she returns to her world was growing more and more near. Zac had reached eight and Nick and Journey's new son Tyler was three years old.
"Mom! I'm going over Rose's house! Okay?" Zoe called from the hallway.
Journey walked out of the kitchen wiping her hands on a blue apron and Tyler straddling her hip. "Okay honey be sure to be back for dinner."
"Okay thanks mom."
Journey lingered on the last word. Mom, if they were sent back she would never hear that from them again.
Journey walked into the living room. The television set was on playing some movie; Nick was lying on the floor sleeping soundly with Zac curled next to him.
Journey smiled and looked at Tyler falling asleep in her arms. She carefully slid him next to his father and brother and covered them in a blanket. As Journey re-entered the kitchen she had seen the sparkle of baby blue and lavender.
"Your are doing well keeping Isabelle safe. Only a few more years before she comes home and you go back."
Journey struggled to keep herself calm. "Yes I know, I wanted to discuss all of this."
The woman nodded, "Go on..."
"Well... I don't want you to take Zoe, and I don't want to send us back." She said sternly.
"Well I am sorry, You may have had a choice ten years ago, but not any more, I am sending you back when the time comes."
The last few years went by quickly. Next thing the Carter's knew they were sitting at the dinning room table for their fifteen-year-old daughter's birthday, with their thirteen-year-old and eight-year-old sons.
"Happy birthday Zoe." Nick smiled bringing in a cake.
"That will not be necessary" A woman standing in the doorway whispered.
Nick dropped the cake to the floor. Zoe didn't flinch, it was as if she knew what was going on. She took the woman's hand and stood enclosed inside of a bubble like field as she watched the woman twitch her fingers. It was like the woman had pressed a rewind button on a remote control.
Zoe was watching her parents go back in time. She watched everything being undone and redone. Until they were back at a banquet. Almost 21 years ago.
Journey wandered around the large banquet hall. She didn't see anyone that came close to her age. She felt strange and out of place as she walked towards the large table with the food on it. She picked up a glass and shuffled towards the punch.
"Would you like some?" Journey looked up into blue eyes of a skinny blonde hair boy.
"Oh yes please." She could tell he was blushing.
"I'm Nick" Nick shook her hand,
"Journey, but call me Jayjay."
Nick smiled at this girl, she was probably a year or two younger than he, but she was pretty. He couldn't even think of anything to say to her.
"Well I'm just going to go over... there now," She said unsteadily.
"Wait! Do... do you want to dance?" Nick pointed towards a small dance floor.
Journey smiled. "No thanks." With that she walked away.
Nick shrugged and returned
with his mother and friends. He was fourteen, he would have other
girlfriends.
