Shattered-Chapter 15

By: Lisa Marie

Brian walked into Lis' room. "I got us a flight Sunday morning, after eleven. That ok with you?"

"Fine." she looked around her room. "Nick and Han out?"

"Went to shoot hoops. I don't think Nick was feeling that good last night."

"I just wish he'd remember something B." Lis said softly, walking out onto the little balcony.

Brian followed her. "The doctor said it would probably come back when he was ready."

"And when will he be ready Rok?" She turned to him.

Brian wrapped his arms around her in a hug. "I'm hoping soon, hon."

Han tossed Nick the ball. "How come you're still so good at this?"

Nick smiled. "I guess some things you never lose." he dribbled the ball and then took a shot at the net. "Another three pointer."

Han put her hands up. "I quit! No more, you win."

"Aww and I was just warming up." he teased.

"Sure you were." She sat on the bench. "You okay with Lis and B going away?"

"Why wouldn't I be?" He asked, grabbing a water from his backpack.

Han shook her head. "Because you're acting funny ever since they told us about the trip."

Nick set his bottle water down. "You're imagining things."

"Oh really?"

"Really."

"Then if I said Brian and Lis could be an item, it would mean nothing to you."

Nick's blue eyes met hers. "I'd say I was happy for them."

"Okay then." Han said, seeing a small flicker of jealousy in his eyes.

~~Later that weekend~~

Lis stuffed her suitcases in the back of her convertible. Brian was busy talking to Han and Nick outside. "Rok, where's your stuff?" Lis asked, walking over to him. It was early Sunday morning and they were flying up to New York in a few hours.

"By the door." he answered, adjusting his Kentucky wildcats hat.

Lis pulled it off his head and put it on. "Go get it, we'll be late if we don't leave soon." She grinned and headed to the car with Han.

Bri shook his head. "I don't know how you put up with her for two years Nick."

Nick smiled. "Me either," he looked at Lis who was busy talking to Han.

Suddenly an idea hit him, a way to find out how he did put up with her for two years. "B, you think AC might like to come and visit for a few days?"

Brian picked up his duffel bag and smiled at his friend. "For sure, I know he misses you like crazy. You want me to call?"

"Nah, I'll find the number myself."

"It's on your desk. The top drawer where your phone book is." Bri informed him, stuffing the bags into the convertible.

Han watched as Lis got into the driver's seat, locking the door behind her. Han crouched down and leaned on the door. "Call when you get there. And don't worry, I'll call if anything happens."

"Yes mommy." Lis smiled. "But nothing will happen." she took a quick glance at Nick. "I swear he's not in there anymore."

"You're just looking too hard to see him. Every once in a while you see him. Watch you'll come back to him waiting with candles and roses and music and an empty house."

Lis giggled. "Han, he didn't even do that when we were together."

Brian jumped into the passenger side. "Well I'm settled. You two done gossiping?"

Han and Lis looked at each other. "We were not gossiping."

Nick walked over and pulled Han away from the car. "Lis you don't mind if Aaron stays here for a few days?"

"Aaron?" Lis asked, her eyes widening in surprise.

"Thought maybe I should spend time with my little bro."

"Sure, no problem." She forced herself to smile, the last time Aaron had stayed there was just after they'd come home from Nick's birthday trip.

Rok put his arm around Lis' shoulder. "We'll call when we land. Later guys!"

Nick and Han waved as the convertible pulled out of the driveway.

~~Hours later~~

Lis watched as Brian checked them into the hotel, she set her suitcase down and looked around. The hotel Bri had picked was within walking distance of the art school so they could go there first thing in the morning. She smiled as Brian walked up to her.

"Here's the key, I'll take the bags." he said, handing her the key.

"You sure? It's an awfully..." Brian picked up her suitcase and groaned.

"Heavy suitcase." she finished. "I can take it Rok."

"No no, let's just go." he said, heading slowly in the direction of the elevators.

"All righty." Lis picked up her backpack purse and followed him.

Nick sat in his office, flipping through his address book. None of the names seemed familiar to him, except for his family and the guys. He sighed and turned to the page with Aaron's number. He checked to make sure the door was closed and picked up the phone, dialing the number quickly.

After three rings someone picked up."Hello?"

"Hi, is Aaron there?"

"Speaking. Nick is that you?" On his end, Aaron took the cordless and went into his room.

"Yeah it's me. You busy, cuz I can always call back."

Aaron looked at the notebook on his desk and the algebra questions beside it, "I'm free. Why ya calling?"

Nick hesitated for a minute. "You free this week?"

"Always free for you. Why, something up?"

"Just want to spend some time with my little bro. You think you can fly out?"

"Of course! When do you want me there, and I'll get a flight."

Nick smiled, it was good to hear someone was happy about seeing him. "Well it's Sunday now, would Tuesday be good?"

"Perfect, I'll call and get a flight and call you right back."

"All right. I'll probably be up for awhile."

"Soon as I get the info, I'll call you back." Aaron promised, they said their good byes and hung up. Aaron looked over to see Jane standing in the doorway. "Nick wants me to visit."

"Thats great. When?"

"This week, Tuesday if I can get a flight."

Jane nodded. "I'll call the airlines, finish off your math and you can call him back with the details." and with that she turned and went to make the arrangements, a smile on her face thinking maybe he was going to tell Aaron he had his memory back.
