"Nick!" Aaron said, waving his hand in front of his brother's face.
"Huh, oh yeah." Nick said, coming out of his daydream.
Aaron gave him a questioning look, wondering if he had overheard his conversation with Lis. "You ok?"
"Perfect, fine, never better." Nick replied, his gaze shifting from his brother to Lis' door. He saw her get up and go into her own bathroom. "So." he said, smiling at Aaron, "What are we doing?"
"Eating, C'mon." Aaron answered, turning and heading downstairs.
Nick nodded and with one last glance towards Lis' door he followed his brother downstairs.
~A Couple Days Later~
Han stood in the doorway, watching her sister type away on the computer. "You busy?" She asked finally.
Lis looked up. "Nope." Quickly she turned off the computer. "What's up?"
"I was just going to ask you the same question." Han answered, sitting down across from Lis.
A confused look appeared on Lis' face. "What do you mean?"
"It's like you've been avoiding me since you got back from NY."
Lis brushed the hair out of her eyes. "I've just been busy, hanging out with AC and thinking about art school and everything."
"Come to any conclusions?"
"Not yet."
Han nodded. "So I uh talked to mom," she started, looking at her hands.
"She's worried about you."
Lis sighed. "As always. You didn't tell her anything did you?"
"Nothing, you know she'll find out you're not feeling well soon. I mean B will call her."
"He better not." Lis shook her head, the last thing she wanted was her mother making an appearance.
Brian looked out the window, seeing Nick and Aaron very involved in a discussion on the deck. He turned around and left the room, heading upstairs. Maybe he'd see if Lis or Han wanted to go out, possibly shoot some hoops. He knocked on the door to the office, hearing their voices inside.
Han opened the door. "Hey B, come on in. I was just leaving."
"Not because of me I hope." he said, moving out of her way.
"No, no got a job interview. I'll see you later Lis."
"Yeah bye." Lis waved and watched Bri walk in. "And what's up with B Rok?"
He laughed, sitting down in Han's spot. "Came to see what's going on with you."
"Not a thing."
"Did you get a doctor's appointment?"
"Yes dad, I got one for tomorrow."
Brian smiled. "Good, now we'll finally see what's wrong with you."
"Stress B, it's called stress."
"Uh huh." He was starting to wonder, but he wasn't going to bring that subject up.
"You want to go out?" She asked, seeing him play with the car keys in his right hand.
"Sure, you up to it?"
Lis stood up. "Of course, let's go!"
Aaron turned to Nick. "You did overhear what I said to Lis the other day didn't you?"
Nick ran a hand through his hair and shook his head. "Nope."
"You may be able to fool some people, but you can't fool me. Let's go for a walk." He suggested.
Nick nodded and followed him out onto the beach, sticking his hands deep inside his pockets.
"So now we can talk. Yes or no, did you hear..."
Nick sighed. "Fine I heard you and Lis talking."
"So you know." Aaron smiled.
"Yeah so I know. I'm cheating on my wife with her sister while she's with my best friend. It's the stuff soap operas are made of, maybe we can get a movie of the week."
"I see your sarcasm is back. What are you doing to do?"
"Hasn't anyone thought that maybe this is for the best? Maybe we're not supposed to be together afterall, maybe she's supposed to be with Bri."
Aaron stopped and watched his brother keep walking. "How the hell can you say that? You're so ready to throw everything you two have and will have away?"
Nick shot Aaron a confused look. "We aren't having anything AC. And I don't want her knowing I know. She's had enough to deal with."
AC shook his head, not believing how much of a Neanderthal his big brother was being.
"I'm just happy she's got B to get her through this." Nick continued as he walked away from him.
Aaron stared at Nick in shock, unable to believe what was coming out of Nick's mouth. He didn't understand any of it at all, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to. Finally he realized Nick had stopped and was staring at him from about thirty feet down the beach.
"You joining me on this walk?" Nick yelled.
"Yeah I'm coming." AC yelled back and took off jogging towards his brother.
