“Okay guys, do that again. Nice!” I said pleased, clicking away at my camera.
“That was cute!” Brian’s girlfriend, Maureen commented.
Each of the guys had decided to bring their girlfriends with them, including Nick’s girlfriend, Hunter.
“Okay, a few more…” I continued.
“We’re back! Brought some lunch, too!” exclaimed Holly and Shay. Holly wallked over to Howie to give him a quick peck on the cheek. Shay, Kevin’s girlfriend walked over and placed everyone’s lunch on the counter.
“Mmm…that smells yummy!” I said, taking a whiff of the food.
“Uh…hello?! This is a photo shoot! Not a restaurant,” Hunter intervened, glaring at me.
“It’s fine. They’re not bothering anything,” I replied, turning my attention back to the guys.
“Well, I am Nick’s girlfriend so this is my assignment, so I say no food,” Hunter snapped back.
“Excuuuuse me! You’ve been reassigned! Nick is my boy-“ I stopped mid-sentence, realizing what I just said. The room became totally silent and I felt all eyes on me.
“I mean, he’s my boyfriend,” I said pointing to AJ with a wobbly finger. My mind had gone blank and I couldn’t remember his name.
“AJ is my boyfriend. That’s what I meant,” I clarified, trying to recover. I wanted to just melt into a puddle in the floor. Everyone was pretty quiet except for a few whispers exchanged between Holly, Shay, and Maureen.
“Can we just take 5, please?” I asked, placing my hand on my head, and quickly making my way into the back room.
AJ burst into the room and slammed the door behind him. I felt so horrible, I couldn’t bring myself to face him.
“What was that?” he yelled.
“AJ, I’m sorry,” was all I could mutter out.
“That’s it? Kelly, tell me what’s going on,” AJ stood there demanding an answer.
“I’m sorry, but AJ, it’s not going to work between us,” I said, daring to look at the crushed expression on his face.
“Why? Because you have feelings for Nick?” he interrogated, already knowing the answer.
“Yeah,” I mumbled as tears stained my cheeks.
“Yeah, too bad he’s already taken, huh?” AJ commented, storming out of the room.
I feel back into the plush chair I was sitting in and bawled.
