Kelly was staring into the great vast unknown, not knowing how long she had been standing there holding her now cool mug of cocoa. Just as she was about to turn to go inside, she heard footsteps coming around the deck. Those comforting footstpes she had waited so long to hear. Kelly hastily set aside her mug and ran outside to greet her husband. His tall slender shadow was cast upon the deck before Kelly could see him. Then his perfectly angelic face came into the light like a vision. His bright red cherry lips broke into a cheeky grin nad his royal blue eyes sparkled like diamonds when his eyes interlocked with his wife’s. Kelly ran up to her husband and threw her arms tightly around his neck. Tears of joy and relief and love and pain stained her milky white cheeks. Her husband’s strong arms were clasped firmly around her back. After a few minutes of this emotional embrace, Kelly pulled away, and looked up at her husband’s tall figure. He reached his hand over to her and gently pushed her blonde hair away from her face and wiped the tears away that were sliding down her cheeks.
“I am so sorry sweethear. I know how worried you were. There was a car accident, so I got stuck in traffic on the way home,” he explained his blue eyes reflecting the truth.
“It’s ok Nick. I’m just so glad you’re home. I love you,” she whispered walking back into his arms.
“I love you, too,” he echoed her sentiment and kissed the top of her hair, that smelled of pears.
The happy couple stood there in their comfortable embrace for a moment until a loud clap of thunder and a bright flash of lightning broke their embrace. The long awaited and much needed rain finally come pouring down and Nick led his wife inside by her hand.
