“Okay, I have a surprise for you,” Nick blurted out.
“What is it?” she asked raising an eyebrow, feeling half conspicuos and half excited.
“Follow me,” he grinned, motioning her to follow him with his finger. She pulled herself off of the couch and willingly followed Nick downstairs to his studio. This studio was kept for Nick to practice dancing, recording songs, playing the drums, or composing new lyrics for his debut solo album.
“Wait right here,” Nick commanded, kissing Kelly’s cheek quickly and slipping into the studio. A few moments later Nick reappeared and took Kelly’s hand into his and carefully led her inside the dynamic studio, lined with mirrors. The normally bright overhead lights were turned off and replaced by candles lining the floor. Kelly’s mouth gaped open in awe at the image before her. Nick’s arm was wrapped around her waist and Kelly gently leaned her head against his chest. The couple’s image was reflected along the mirrored walls.
“Baby, this is gorgeous,” Kelly smiled still admiring the look of the studio.
“The only gorgeous thing here is you,” Nick complimented his wife of three years, putting emphasis on the word ‘you’.
“Thank you,” she smiled timidly.
Nick lifted her chin so that their eyes met and as if on cue in a movie, music started to play. Kelly immediately recognized the song from their first dance as man and wife. Nick’s eyes never strayed away from Kelly’s as he started to sing the meaningful lyrics of “I Swear.”
I swear by the moon and the stars in the sky
And I swear like the shadow that's by your side
I see the questions in your eyes
I know what's weighing on your mind
You can be sure I know my heart
`Coz I'll stand beside you through the years
You'll only cry those happy tears
And though I make mistakes
I'll never break your heart
And I swear by the moon and the stars in the sky
I'll be there
I swear like a shadow that's by your side
I'll be there
For better or worse, till death do us part
I'll love you with every beat of my heart
And I swear
I'll give you every thing I can
I'll build your dreams with these two hands
We'll hang some memories on the walls
And when just the two of us are there
You won't have to ask if I still care
`Coz as the time turns the page, my love won't age at all
And I swear by the moon and the stars in the sky
I swear (and I swear) like the shadow that's by your side
I'll be there
For better or worse, till death do us part
I'll love you with every beat of my heart
And I swear
I swear (I swear) by the moon and stars in the sky
I'll be there
I swear like the shadow that's by your side
I'll be there
For better or worse, till death do us part
I'll love you with every (single) beat of my heart
I swear, I swear, oh... I... swear...
When the music ended and Nick’s powerful voice let go of the last note, Nick pulled his wife’s body close against his and interlocked his lips with hers. Kelly pulled away after a few minutes of kissing and wrapped her arms around Nick’s waist and rested her head gingerly against his chest.
“Happy anniversary, sweetheart,” Nick said, once again kissing the top of her hair…one of his favorite features of his lovely wife.
“Happy anniversary, baby,” she replied, leaning up to his face so that their mouths found their way to each other.
