Jeff said goodbye to the group as they headed out to go see "Fantasmic!" Kevin and Jeff planned to meet back at the restaurant after the show, allowing Kevin a little more time with Kristy. "So, you guys gonna hang out at Pleasure Island again while you're here?" Jeff asked.
"Yep," Jess answered for the group. "Although probably not tonight, since it'll probably be fairly empty, being Sunday and all. We thought we'd call it a night after the show."
"Yeah," Heather added. "Some of us have to spend all day at the convention tomorrow."
"And others of us need to save our energy for all the dancing we plan on doing the rest of the week," Mike contributed, striking a disco pose to emphasize his point.
"Or golf!" Chris had brought his clubs with him and planned on getting as much golf in as he could. "Since I don't have any responsibilities at the meeting."
"How 'bout you, Kristy?" Jeff asked. "Which of those categories do you fit into?"
"A little bit of each, 'cept the golf - I didn't bring my clubs." Kristy smiled. "I have to help interview applicants for a couple of positions we have open, but only in the mornings. Then I'll rest up so I can boogy down at night!"
"Which clubs are you planning on going to?" Kevin asked. You could tell a lot about a person by the type of music they liked.
"Kristy will probably drag us to all of them." Chris rolled his eyes and smiled.
"Depends on what I'm in the mood for! Last time we hung out mostly at 8Trax, the disco club... that place was so much fun! But I wanna check out the others too," she continued, describing the dance environments to her friends who'd never been there before. "There's an R&B/hip-hop place I liked a lot and one that had techno that would be fun with more people, especially on whichever night has the 80's alternative stuff."
"So she can get her Depeche Mode fix," Heather explained to Jeff and Kevin.
Kristy nodded and smiled, "My fave! There's also The Beach Club that does rock and pop with a DJ and a live band, plus there's the bands on the West End Stage."
"Don't forget the New Year's Eve countdown every night!" Jessica giggled.
"I bet it's even better, now that it's so close to the real thing," Chris added. "So are there the traditional midnight kisses?" He said with a devilish grin and a wiggle of his eyebrows.
"Maybe if you're lucky!" Heather smiled seductively and wiggled her eyebrows in reply.
"Or unlucky, depending on who you're kissing." Jessica added with a dramatic shudder.
"So, what other clubs are there?" Mike asked after the group had said their goodbyes to Jeff and started towards the arena for the show.
"Well, there's the Jazz Club, the House of Blues, and the top-40 dance stuff they pump out on the street. There's even a country club, but Jess wouldn't let me go there last time," she pouted and giggled. "I want to spend at least one night on the boardwalk too. There's that great piano bar that has the 'dueling pianos' and the audience all sings along..."
"And has cute waiters!" Jess grinned and winked at Kristy.
"I have a feeling there's a story behind that," Chris said, looking at the others.
"Who, us?" Jessica and Kristy both feigned looks of innocence.
"Mmm, hmm!" Chris, Mike and Heather all nodded. The whole group laughed.
"Oh! And that dance club on the boardwalk," Kristy continued. "The one with the big-band swing... though you need someone to dance with to make it fun," she hinted.
Kevin raised an eyebrow in question, "You swing?"
"I've taken a couple of lessons... and I'm a pretty quick learner." Kristy smiled, "You?"
"I've been known to dance a bit," Kevin replied, returning her smile. "Guess we'll have to go one night and see if you're as good as you say."
"Definitely!" Kristy's heart raced at the thought of being held in Kevin's arms as they danced.
"How 'bout tomorrow? Monday nights are usually still pretty quiet at Pleasure Island and we could go to the piano bar too - it's right next to the dance club." He looked at her expectantly. He'd wanted to ask her out, spend some more time with her, but he didn't plan on doing it in front of an audience.
"Sounds great to me... but it kinda depends on what everyone else has planned," Kristy said. She really wanted to see Kevin again, but didn't want to ditch her friends.
"I think that's a wonderful idea!" Jessica jumped in. "Last time, Pleasure Island just got better and better as the week went on, so we probably wouldn't be missing much tomorrow."
Kristy smiled at her friend, "Besides, if we get enough people together it doesn't really matter where we go, we'll bring the fun with us!"
Kevin watched Kristy interact with her friends and smiled as he thought, "You're right. It doesn't matter where we go, I'm sure I'll have fun as long as I'm with you."
