Easy Coffee Cake

2 cups brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla


Preheat oven to 350-F degrees. Mix first 4 ingredients as for pie crust; add
nuts and mix well. Measure and reserve 1 cup of the nut mixture. Add
buttermilk, egg and vanilla to remaining nut mixture. Spread batter in 9 x
13-inch cake pan; sprinkle with reserved nut mixture. Bake for 30 minutes at
350 degrees.
