Open-Faced Hamburgers

1 pound ground beef chuck
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons finely minced onion
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 medium or large egg
6 slices bread


1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the beef, salt, pepper, onion, ketchup,
and egg. Divide into 6 portions; spread each portion over 1 slice of the
bread.
3. Place the hamburgers on a baking sheet. Bake until browned, about 25
minutes.

4 Bear Barbecue Burgers

Serves 4-6


2 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1 1/4 cups ketchup
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons liquid smoke


Shape ground beef in to patties. Overlap in a large dutch-oven.

Combine the remaining ingredients in a saucepan and heat to boiling.
Pour over the patties.

Cook slowly until done.
