Peanut Butter Cookies

1/4 cup soft shortening
1/4 cup soft margarine
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 egg
1 1/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. soda
Mix shortening, peanut butter, sugars, and egg thoroughly. Measure flour
after sifting. Blend all dry ingredients; stir in to shorting mixture. Chill
Heat oven to 375 degrees, roll dough into balls, the size of large
walnuts. Place 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten
with fork dipped in sugar... crisscross. Bake 8-12 minutes. Makes
about 3 dozen 2 1/2 inch cookies.
