Pretzel Salad

Bankie McCarty of Osceola,Arkansas, gave this recipe to me.


·         1 stick butter
·         1 cup broken pretzels
·         1 ½ cups sugar, divided
·         8 ounces cream cheese
·         8 ounces Cool Whip
·         20 ounce can crushed pineapple


Melt the butter and add only one cup of the sugar and all ofthe pretzels. 
Mix well and spread on cookie sheet.  Bake for 7 minutes at 350º.  Remove
from oven and allow to cool.  Beat the other ½ cup sugar and softened cream
cheese.  Add Cool Whip and well-drained pineapple.  Crumble the cooled
pretzel mixture and fold it into the cream cheese mixture.  Chill and serve. 
*This is called a salad, but it is rich enough to serve as a dessert!
