TURTLE CAKE

1 pkg. German Chocolate Cake mix
make cake batter following the package instructions.

Put half of the batter in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan and
bake for 15 minutes in a 350 degree oven.

Take 14 ounces of "unwrapped" caramel candy squares,
4 ounces of evaporated milk
1/4 pound (1 stick) margarine

Melt candy, milk and margarine in a double-boiler.

Pour candy/milk mixture over the cake.
Sprinkle with 1 cup pecans, chopped
1 cup chocolate chips

Pour over the rest of the cake batter and bake 20 minutes.

Spread with cool whip or whipped cream when cool or just before
serving.
