Velvet Crumb Cake

1 1/2 cups Bisquick® baking mix
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
BROILED TOPPING
1/2 cup coconut
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup nuts chopped
3 tablespoons butter softened
2 tablespoons milk


Cake: Preheat oven to 350°.

Grease and flour a 8 inch square or 9 inch round cake pan.

Beat all ingredients except Broiled Topping. Beat mixture on low speed
30 seconds and then increase speed to medium and beat 4 more minutes.
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake until done, about 30 to 35 minutes.

Broiled Topping: Mix coconut, brown sugar, nuts, butter and milk. Spread
over a slightly cooled cake. Broil about 3 inches from heat for
approximately 3 minutes or until golden brown. Serves 9 to 12.
