Christian Vieri may be staying put at Inter for now, but his little brother Max is heading back to Juventus.

VIERI: BEING AT JUVE IS THE MAX!
19/07/2000
Max Vieri's obvious likeness to his older brother Christian is plain
for all to see, both in looks and in the tone of his voice. They both
also share the handy knack of scoring goals. The 21-year-old
Bianconero, however, explained that he sees himself more as a
 second striker.

Vieri returned to Juve after a good stint on loan at Brescello. His
14 goals, scored during the course of last season, almost
clinched the club promotion to Serie B. The coming campaign,
however, will be one of transition for Max as he has received his
call up for military service, which will soon see him travel to Rome.
It goes without saying that his season will be determined in no
small part by his military commitments. Not that it's getting him
down: "I'll be happy to just be part of the squad", he said.

Vieri's role model is Marco Van Basten, but he knows that much
can be learnt from Inter and Italy star brother, Christian: "We
speak on the phone every day", admitted Max. "He gives me lots
of advice, above all not to give up. I am envious of his physical
strength, because when he is fit he is extraordinary. I am looking
to work on this aspect of my game and feel like I've made some
progress. I'd also take his left foot if I could. But I'm looking to
make my own way in football and know I still have a long way to
go." It sounds like he's on the right path.

(And as earlier reported ...)

                       VIERI MARK THREE
                       16/06/2000
Talented tyros Matteo Brighi and Massimiliano Vieri (pictured)
have become Juventus' newest recruits, club sources revealed on
Friday. The Bianconeri trawled the lower reaches of the Italian
League to catch striker Vieri from Serie C1 outfit Brescello and
midfielder Brighi from Rimini, a rung further down the professional
                       ladder.

And while he may not have cost the earth, Vieri is literally a
big-name signing. Massimiliano, 21, is the latest scion of the
footballing dynasty that includes brother Christian and father
Roberto, both former Juve players. Vieri mark three is a product of
the youth set-up at the Delle Alpi, having spent three seasons at
the club between 1994 and 1997. He has since plied his trade at
third-division Prato and Fano, before scoring 14 goals this season
for Brescello - which persuaded the Bianconeri to take up their
                       option on the player.

Despite the move to Turin, Vieri faces a hectic time of things. He
will combine pre-season training with his military service: "It is
going to be a transitional year for me. But I am familiar with the
way things work at Juventus and it's great to be going back there.
Fans should know I am more an inside-forward than an
                       out-and-out striker like my brother."

Brighi, 19, is less well-connected. The Rimini-born player scored
eight goals from central midfield this season, and was one of the
mainstays of his hometown team. But as Brighi revealed, he is
now ready to swap Serie C2 for the bright lights of Serie A: "I
spoke to Juventus last year, but decided to stay at Rimini for
another season to complete my studies." One thing's for sure,
Matteo will not be the big fish he was on the Adriatic coast; Turin
                       awaits.

Bobo on the Big Screen

Stardom on the pitch is not enough for Christian "Bobo" Vieri. He is now setting his sights on the movies! A fan of films, himself, Vieri is taking part in the production of an Italian film called, "Testa Di Picasso." Fans of the cubist shouldn't get too excited, though. The film is a parody of the Rocky 4 film -- think Stallone and Lundgren -- and even the film's title is a spoof on the Italian slang "testa di cazzo."

Director and comedian Ceccherini is a friend of Vieri. He has cast Bobo in the Lundgren role as the boxing antagonist. Model Naomi Campbell -- known for her own aggressive behavior -- has taken the role as the film's heroine.

The film should be released this autum in Italy from the Cecchi Gori Group.

Vieri back on track after long layoff

Agence France Press MILAN (AFP) -- Inter Milan striker Christian Vieri scored two goals in a training match Monday as he eased back into action after the long injury layoff that caused him to miss Euro 2000. Vieri, who was the world's most expensive player when he moved from Lazio to Inter for 49 million dollars, is now on track to return to Serie A action on November 1. The former Juventus and Atletico Madrid player came through his workout unscathed under the watchful eye of stand-in coaches Narciso Pezzotti and Beppe Baresi who will hand over control to Marco Tardelli on Wednesday. Vieri and his team-mates played at Inter's youth base Interello as their usual Appiano Gentile headquarters are currently occupied by the Italian national team. Meanwhile, the news that Tardelli is the new man in charge of the nerazzuri (black and blues) has met with approval from fans and players alike. Andrea Pirlo, who played under the 1982 World Cup hero in Italy's team at the Sydney Olympics, said: "He is a great coach. He can build a team.

Inter Milan's Vieri to return in November

Agence France Press MILAN (AFP) -- Inter Milan's Italian international forward Christian Vieri will return to action Nov. 1 in a Serie A match with AS Roma at the San Siro, Inter coach Marco Tardelli said Monday. "Christian is doing well, and the doctors have confirmed he should be able to play in the Inter-Roma match," said Tardelli. "Before that game we will organise a friendly for him so he can get to know all the players." Vieri, who signed for Inter from Lazio for a then world record fee of $49 million, had an injury-plagued 1999-2000 season with his right leg proving particularly troublesome. He has not played since the playoff match with Parma on May 23 to qualify for the European Champions League preliminary rounds. Vieri played for only 30 minutes in that match - won 3-1 by Inter - before injury forced him out.

Vieri Excited to Be Back

30 October 2000

ROMA- Christian Vieri is warming up the engine. The Inter forward who was called up by Trapattoni for the Sport Jubilee didn稚 play but talked about his situation. "I知 ready and eager to play. I知 in perfect shape and I知 very keen to start over again not just for the next match but for the whole season". Bobo still trusts Inter and believe they still are one of the top class clubs and they池e as tough as any other team. "Tardelli impressed me a lot. He has the same determination to do well and to improve as we have. It will be a great match against Roma. We need some more time. But we have the right players and they池e fit. I知 sure they値l be ready to show what they can do". And with Vieri helping the team at last....
