Temple of Vishnu

Ten Avatars (Incarnations) of Lord Vishnu

A temple dedicated to Vishnu's half Lion avatar.

Vishnu is a God of Protection and rescue, as you can tell by all the times He has saved the world from demons.
He always comes in times of need and saves us from whatever is threanting us.

An AWESOME and HUGE statue of Lord Vishnu in Bali.

Vishnu is also a God of Love, and devotion, particularly in his Krishna Avatar, as Radha and Krishna are one of the most celebrated couple of lovers in history. Lakshmi, is his Shakti, meaning She is his wife,
but also the source of His divine power. She is always incarnated with Him, and has helped Him with the trials, he has faced throughout history.

My daughters and I celebrated Holi in the Lodi Gardens in Delhi India in 2010, we also visited Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, one of Vihsnu's avatars.

Vishnu, is also called 'the Preserver.' He is the savior God of the Hindu triad, of Bramha-the Creator, Shiva-the Destorier, and Vishnu-the Preserver.

Vishnu is often shown, with his magical bird, Guarda, on which He rides, or on the multi-headed Snake, Sesa, where He sleeps for four months out of each year. Lakshmi, is often shown with Him,
as "The Divine Couple" are nearly inseperatable. They are the personifacation of true love, and spousal devotion.

Diwali is the Hindu New Year. Lamps are lit to symbolize the divine light dispelling the darkness.

The holiday honors and celebrates the defeat of the demon Ravana by the Preserver God, Vishnu, in his avatar of Rama. The holiday also honors the marriage of Vishnu and Lakshmi.
Diwali is Nov 12th

The Diwali Puja Ritual

You will need; Idols (statues or artwork depicting Vishnu, Lakshmi, and Ganesha) Flowers, fruits, bread, sweets, meat, spices, milk, curds, butter, sugar, and honey Coins Rose Quartz charm

First clean the Puja room (a general sweeping with a magical broom will do...you can smudge, or sprinkle a salt circle if you like as well) and then Clense each Deity idol. (Either statues or artwork of Vishnu, Lakshmi & Ganesha) first with water, then with rose water, followed by water once more. Make a 'Panchamitra ' by mixing milk, curds (such as cottage cheese), ghee (clarified butter), sugar & Honey. Place this Panchamitra mixture in a bowl before the Gods' idols. Then decorate the altar with flowers and lit lamp around the idols of the Gods (oil lamps rather than candles for this rite, please.)
Now make offerings of fruit, candy, spices and gold or silver coins. (It is VERY important that this food be donated to the poor or thrown out to be 'donated to the wild animals' and that the money be donated to the poor.) Now pray to the Gods asking for their blessings.
Vishnu and Lakshmi are the 'divine couple' and rule over matters of love, marriage, family, beauty, art, good fortune, prosperity and luck. Ganesha is the 'remover of obstacles,' the God of good luck and is always honored before any other Gods in such Puja rites.

I suggest a charm be made during this part of the rite, and charged with a prayer. You can of course write one appropriate for you and your needs, but a good one (unfortunately) all of us can use from time to time is a 'healing of a broken heart' charm I composed. It is as follows:
"Invoking Vishnu and Lakshmi, I charge this charm of Rose Quartz, to bring love energy to me, and heal my heart of past hurts."

Another magical prayer/rite invoking Lord Vishnu is the
Vishnu Sahasranama appears in theHindu holy Epic
the Mahabharata. The Vishnu Sahasranama (or
reciting the 1000 names of Vishnu) is a
powerful ritual meditation chant...said to
heal, banish evil, insure happiness, love,
successful marriages, and all manner of blessings.
(the magical words "om" are often chanted before
each name and "Namaha" is chanted after each name.
