Chapter 1 - The Arraignment

A 15 years old girl, named Katie, was at home in her bedroom. She was at her desk, drawing a picture of Nick Carter, while she listened to the Backstreet Boys cd, Millennium. She had an average figure with light brown skin. Her eyes were dark brown and her hair was black, and it was kept in a ponytail that reached up to her shoulders.

She sighed. “I’ve finally finished it.”

Katie held the picture in front of her eyes and grinned. She had drawn two drawings of Nick, and now this drawing was her third one. But she had other drawings besides Nick, like two drawings of the other members of the Backstreet Boys, sketches of some landscapes and some drawings of animals.

On the cd player, Nick’s song, ‘I Need You Tonight,’ started to play.

Katie continued to stare at the drawing that she just finished and thought to herself. “I wonder what you’re doing right now, Nick…(sigh)…but I guess, if I ever get to meet you, you’ll be too busy to just say hi to me.”

She drifted off to sleep and started to dream about meeting her dream guy. She could hear him sing ‘I Need You Tonight,’ from the cd player and because of that, she dreamt that he was actually singing it to her, in a concert. There was loads of bsb fans all around the stage, screaming and yelling and then for no reason, all the lights went out and the only thing she could see was Nick because one of the spotlights was still working and it shined on them, brightly. She couldn’t hear the crowd anymore because Nick’s singing, drowned out the crowd out. He was holding a red rose with his left hand and the microphone in his right. He wore a black suit with a green shirt inside it, while Katie wore a royal blue t-shirt and her black jeans, then he bended over, to give her the rose.

Then he began to sing. “…I need you tonight, I need you right now, I know deep within my heart, it doesn’t matter if it’s wrong or right, ‘cause I really need you…” Then he kissed her with his soft lips.

She closed her eyes, as she could smell his cologne, as he moved in closer to her. He kissed her even more as she kissed back and she felt like she was in heaven. She dropped the rose on the ground, but she didn’t care ‘cause she was in Nick’s arms, and then she could hear him whisper something in her ear. “Katie, I…”

‘Ring, ring!’ The phone rang.

Katie was only half-awake when the phone rang, but she was still in the middle of dreaming, “What did you say, Nick!?!” She said, in a puzzled tone.

‘Ring, ring!’ The phone rang again.

After she realised that no one was at home. She groaned and sat up straight on her chair and reached for the telephone, on her desk.

“Hello…?” She said, in a dull and sleepy voice, as she yawned afterward.

“Hey Kate! What ‘cha doing, right now?…Umm, are you okay?” Said the familiar voice, over the phone.

Katie shook her head to wake herself up. “Yeah, I’m okay.” She yawns again, but this time she covers the phone and then she continued. “Sorry Erin, I was…resting. So what’s up, why cha’ call?”

“I’m bored…I got nothing to do and I’m at home.” Erin complained.

“So…what ‘cha want me to do about it?”

“I don’t know. Maybe we can go out somewhere, Kate. It’s the school holidays. We should be doing something, not staying at home and do nothing all day. Anyway, we only have 6 more weeks until we go back to school.”

“Of course we only have 6 weeks, school just ended 2 days ago, Erin. But umm…to answer your question, lets…” Katie thought about it for a while and answered.

“Well, you wanna invite Melissa as well?”

“Okay. But where do you wanna go?”

Katie grinned and asked. “You wanna go to a park, for a picnic?”

This time, it was Erin’s time to think. “Wanna go to…Lakeside Park?”

“Okay! That park has a great lake to look at.”

“Okay, that’s settled. Oh yeah, Kate. Did you get your bsb ticket?”

“Yeah, of course I have.” She had the ticket on her desk, in front of her. “Hey Erin, what’s with the number in the square box? It doesn’t usually have it.”

“I don’t know, but I got number 45, what did you get?”

“I got 31 and Melissa said she got 22.”

“Well, we might find out tomorrow at the concert, ‘cuz the ticket person said that we should keep it during the show.”

“Okay then…” Then she thought of something. “Hey Erin, you know that we’re sleeping over at Melissa’s house, tomorrow. Right?”

“Yeah…why? We all said that we’re going over to her house after the bsb concert.”

“Well, I just thought that, after we go to the park, we can go to Melissa’s house to get ready for the concert and then altogether, we can go to the show. Instead of us finding each other, when we get there. But once the show is over, we can take the bus or Melissa’s mum can drive us back to her house. Okay?”

“Yeah, that sounds okay with me. I’ll give Melissa a call, just to see what she thinks about this, then I’ll call ya back, okay?”

“Okay then. Bye Erin.”

“Bye Kate.”

Both girls hung up the phone.

***30 minutes later***
The three girls agreed to meet each other at the park, at 12:00 noon, the next day.
After asking their parents and telling them about what they were going to do, the girls all got ready for the next day.
