The Disenchanted princess sits in the castle of Melancholy
For it’s not so happily ever after, she lives, really
Alas Prince charming is more of a common rake
And all the rest of the fairy tale dream is fake
It’s not so bad, she must admit it’s not tragic
It’s just that unfortunately also it’s not magic
Things could be worse so she doesn’t want to complain
But things could be better and she is still in pain
From the dismay over the disappointment
of living with disillusioned disenchantment
But she must wear her tarnished tiara with a missing gemstone
And endure feeling a bit lovelorn and lonely, even though she’s not alone.
How come all the frogs a lady kisses Turn into horny toads instead of princes? How come happily ever after becomes instead an endless argument of he said she said? How come the enchanted kingdom seems to change into a crumbling state of fair to midland range? How come the knight's shining armor tarnishes so badly so fast? And your Prince Charming's charm just doesn't seem to last? How come once upon a time seems like ages and ages ago? And you have to wish you knew then what you now know? How come the fairy tales get it so very wrong? And plain old reality is what lasts so long? How come the Brothers Grimm lied and then lied some more? Well they were men so they likely were just trying to score!
