Chapter One

Amanda dropped her box on the floor right next to the front door. After hours and hours of driving, she was feeling weary and exhausted. She went to look around the small house to make sure the movers brought everything. She was missing Denver already, missing her friends, family, and surroundings. Amanda knew she would get used to the busy streets of Los Angeles in time. Picking up her box at the front door she continued to put things away. The box included things that would be placed in her room. Over the past 2 months she had painters and people helping her fix up the house. Since she lived in Denver she couldn't come out here all the time, only twice a month. Her friend here, Megan, did a lot of the work since she lived in California. Amanda's favorite room had to be hers. The walls were a deep green with a light green border. Her bed was put on the right side of the room directly in the middle of the wall, with her dresser to the left of the bed. On the other side was her nightstand where she knew she would place her pictures of her friends & family on. Across the room was her desk and another dresser. There was a door in her room that led right to the bathroom next to it. It was a nice size bathroom. She had a bathtub and a shower in there, of course with a toilet and sink too. It was a cozy place to live and she knew she would love it. Everytime she's been in LA she's never met her neighbor. Once she actually went there, up to the door, and knocked to see if anyone was home. She had no luck. Finally she gave up. She concluded that no one probably lived there.

Amanda had dark brown hair to the middle of her back. Her brown eyes stood out as did her smile that was always on her face. People seemed to like her eyes the best, saying it was her best feature. She didn't care for them. She stood about 5'6" and weighed about 135. She thought she was fat which she wasn't, so once and a while she would try to lose weight which never worked. Finally she just gave up on it and excepted who she was.

Hours later, Amanda finished putting most of her belongings away when there was a knock at the door. She fixed her clothes and opened the door. What a shock she had.

"Hi there. I'm Nick. I guess I'm your neighbor." he said with a smile.

"Hi," Amanda said stretching out her hand for a shake, "I'm Amanda."

Nick returned the shake and said, "So did you just move here?"

"Yeah. Do you live in the house over there?" she said pointing to the one on her right side.

"Yeah."

Amanda knew it was Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys but she wasn't going to make a big deal out of it. He wasn't so why should she? The truth was Amanda didn't like BSB and she really didn't like Nick. She though he was too stuck on himself. Personally, she really didn't want to live next door to him at all.

"Oh, I was wondering who lived there because no one was ever home."

"Well, I'm never home because of..um..ah.." Nick started but never finished because Amanda interrupted him by saying, "Yeah, you're on tour all the time."

"Oh so you know who I am then."

"Yeah." Inside Amanda thought, this is going to be so much fun. Living next to bleach boy and having to try and sleep at night when wild parties are going on.

"Well, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be rude or anything but I have to finish moving some stuff and then I'm going to take a nap." Amanda stated nice and clearly to Nick as kind as she could.

Stunned Nick said, "Oh well, all right. Maybe I'll see you around some time then."

"Yeah, maybe." She said while shutting the door.

Nick walked away from the door before saying quietly to himself, "This is going to be fun. "

Amanda went into the kitchen and took out the only thing that was in her fridge, a liter of Mountain Dew, her favorite drink. She poured some of it into a glass and drank it all in one gulp. She set the glass in the sink, which had a window above it, and peeked out of it to see Nick outside in his yard. He knew she was there because the next thing she knew he was looking at her. She quickly looked away and went to her room. Putting her comforter on her bed, she laid under it. Dozing off pretty quickly she dreamt of her old home in Denver. Amanda desperately missed her best friend, Chris, so bad. He wasn't a boyfriend, just her best friend. She could talk to him about anything and he could do the same. Amanda never had romantic feelings for him, ever. How could she? She's known him since she was 3 and they even used to take baths together when they were really little!!!

Nick walked back into his house after that little encounter with Amanda. He did not like this girl AT ALL. She was really pretty but he thought that she looked a little too stuck on herself and snotty. (Hey! They think alike!) He knew to leave this one alone. Nick picked up his phone and dialed Brian's house in Florida. After 5 rings and no answer, Nick left a message on his machine.

"Hey Rok, it's me. I just met my new neighbor. It's a girl, looks about my age or so, and man is she snotty!!! I'm not going to be having fun living next to her that's for sure!!! Well, call me when you get in." he said into the phone.

After hanging up Nick went to see what was on TV and found nothing. He decided to take his dogs outside to play. They got a little loud so Nick tried to keep them quiet but had no luck. Amanda opened her kitchen window and yelled out to Nick, "Shut them up!!! They woke me up from my nap. The least you could do is not take all 20 million of them out at once!!!"

Nick picked up his head and yelled back at her, "It's 2 in the afternoon. They can bark if they want!! And stop with your barking!! You're making more noise then they are!"

Amanda shot him an evil look and closed the window. She knew this was going to be lots of fun. It was only her first day here and she was already wanting to leave. Nick is a pain in the butt so far and she knew it's going to get worse.
