Megan was coming by to visit Amanda today so she cleaned up her house pretty well and went to the store to get some snacks. Megan was spending the night so she also picked up a couple of movies. Around 5 she'd be here and it was 4:30 now. Amanda went into her room and straightened it up a little more when there was a knock on the door. She quickly answered it surprised by who it was. Nick.
Amanda gave him an evil look that said what do you want all over it.
"I didn't come here to see that face of yours give me flirtatious looks, I came to tell you to trim that dumb bush before I yank it out of the ground myself. It is coming into my yard and I don't appreciate it."
"If you want it trimmed do it YOURSELF."
"Fine, I'll just rip it out." Nick told her and left.
Amanda slammed the door and sat down on the couch. The doorbell rang not a minute later and she went to answer it expecting it to be Nick again.
"Leave me alone already!!" Amanda yelled as she opened the door.
"Huh?" Megan said.
"Oh I thought it was someone else, sorry about that. Come on in."
Megan walked in with her overnight bag. "Uh, why is that guy next door taking out your bush?" she questioned me.
Amanda's eyes got wide and her face dropped as she ran outside to see Nick actually ripping out her bush!!!
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!!!!!!!!" Amanda roared.
"Taking out your bush like I said I would if you won't trim it."
"YOU GET YOUR IM TOO GOOD FOR ANYONE HANDS AND BODY AWAY FROM MY STUPID BUSH!!!!!!!!"
"No."
That triggered Amanda so she took off after him. He jumped up and backed up to his house. Her bush was half out of the ground. Amanda didn't like him doing that at all so she walked up to his mailbox and kicked it with all her might. It was a cheap little plastic thing so it fell down pretty easy.
"What the heck do you think you're doing!!!!????" Nick screamed.
"You took out my shrub so I took out your mailbox!!!"
"You will pay for that."
"No I will not. You're rich. The least you could do is buy yourself a mailbox worth more than $5!!!!!"
"If you do not pay for that mailbox I will take you to court for destroying my property."
"Then I'll just tell them your ripped out my bush! Gosh Nick, GROW UP!!!!"
"It looks like you're the one that needs to grow up Amanda."
"If you're talking about "physical" appearances then you must be mistaken. I look pretty darn good if you ask me....you better look in the mirror Nick. Take a nice long look in the mirror and tell me what you see. You'll see that you have a big head and if gets any bigger you'll be able to put it in a parade as the "I Love Myself Float." Get a clue Nick and leave me alone."
With that last word Amanda went inside of her house and slammed the door behind her before Nick had a chance to respond.
"I'm sorry Meg."
"That's all right, but what was that all about?"
Amanda told her the whole story right from the beginning. All Megan did was say, "Oh."
"Oh is right. Now how about we start gossiping?"
Megan laughed and they went into Amanda's room. Amanda sat on her bed as Megan sat on her chair backwards.
"I talked to Chris today....." Amanda trailed on. She told her about their conversation.
"I can't believe you've never had feelings for him. "
"Well, he's a great guy but he's my best friend. I wouldn't want it to get awkward around him, ya know?"
"Yeah. Now, what about Nick?"
"What about him?"
"Do you like him?"
"If I liked him do you actually think I would knock down his mailbox Meggie?"
"It's a sign of flirting. "
"You sound like Chris...."
Nick walked into his living room and flipped the TV on after he cleaned up outside. He searched through the channels and kept MTV on. Hot Zone was on and Christina's video Genie In A Bottle was on. He wasn't even paying attention to the video. He would be leaving on tour again in a couple of weeks and he didn't want to leave his house unattended with Amanda living next door. Nick actually wanted to come home to a home!
..."So you actually think that James Van Der Beek is hotter than Josh Jackson? Come on, Josh is so much cuter!!" Amanda inquired.
"They're both cute but James is cuter. "
"No way!!"
"Hey, lets go turn up your stereo in your living room and sing!"
Ok!"
They walked into the living room and put in Kid Rock. Amanda put it on Bawitdaba and turned it up full blast. Her and Megan were dancing around and singing at the top of their lungs. Amanda turned around and noticed Nick was staring at them from outside. She walked to the window and pulled down the shades and went back to dancing.
Outside Nick sighed and went back inside. He played a couple games of Mario Kart and beat the rounds everytime. It was too easy. Nick liked a challenge. And the challenge was to make peace with Amanda before his whole house is disjoined. That was going to be hard. What he didn't know was that it was going to be easier than he thought, but it was going to take a little time.
"Oh come on, Brad doesn't look that good in this movie." Amanda stated.
"Yeah, he looked better after he made it, but he still is kind of cute."
"Maybe."
The girls were watching Meet Joe Black, a 3 hour movie. Amanda loved this movie that's why she rented it again. It was a long 3 hours but it was a really good movie. It ended around 2:30 in the morning and then they slipped in Blair Witch. Both of them knew what a lame movie it was but decided to watch it anyway. About 20 minutes into the movie they both fell asleep. They didn't realize how boring this movie really was the second time around until they fell asleep during it.
Next door at Nick's, he was sound asleep on the couch. MTV was still playing all this time. All of a sudden Nick woke up to something horrible sounding. He looked at the TV to see Britney Spears's video playing.
Nick gave himself a little laugh and walked to his room to go to bed. It was really early in the morning and he needed his rest. If it wasn't for the horrible sounds of Britney he'd still be sleeping. (No offense to all your Spears fan, but this is my story and I hate her so she goes down in this story!)
~~~ The Next Morning ~~~
Megan woke up with a yawn the next morning. It was 8 right now and Megan thought that she shouldn't wake Amanda since she was exhausted. Megan went into the kitchen and opened up the refrigerator to see what she had. Not much was in there, but she did manage to find a couple of eggs. She put them on the stove and toasted some bread too. All the shades were shut so Megan went around the house and opened them all while the eggs were cooking. She opened the back door to let some air get in when she seen Nick outside playing with one of his dog.
Nick heard the door open and looked up thinking it would be Amanda at the door. To his surprise it wasn't. He's never seen this girl before. Her blonde hair came a little past her shoulders and she was thin. She was also in her pajamas which made Nick crack a smile.
"Hi, do you live with Amanda? " Nick asked.
"No, I just spent the night. I'm her friend Megan."
"Nick. You seem a lot more friendlier than Amanda, at least I don't think you look like you'd kick down my cheap mailbox. "he said with a smile.
Megan grinned. He seemed like a nice guy to her. She didn't know why Amanda didn't like him. "I usually just stick to windows, never mailboxes."
"Oh so you're funny too."
Megan liked him. He seemed like a real decent person.
"I'd love to stay and chat, but I'm cooking breakfast and Amanda will be up soon and I think she'd kill me if she seen me talking to you. I really don't wanna lose my mailbox."
"All right! Maybe I'll seen you around."
"Yeah." Megan went back inside leaving the screen open. The eggs were done as well as the toast. The next thing she had to do was wake up Amanda. She walked to her room to see Amanda not there. Maybe she was in the bathroom. Nope. She went back to the kitchen to find Amanda sitting at the table.
"Where'd you come from?"
"I've been in the living room. I guess you didn't see me as you walked by."
"Oh, guess not!"
"Thanks for making some breakfast, I'm starving."
"No problem."
"So I seen you've come acquainted with my neighbor."
"Uh, yeah."
"Don't worry, I won't kick down your mailbox." Amanda said with a grin.
"That's a relief. Nick doesn't seem that bad Mandy, he's kind of cute."
"You think that blue eyes that look like the ocean, bright golden blonde hair, muscles, and height are cute? You've got to be kidding."
"I think someone likes him....."
"I'd rather chew off my own arm and eat an ant farm then go out with bleach boy."
"Well, would you mind then, if I...uhh..asked him out?"
"Meggie, you could do so much better than Nick. "
"What, I'm not good enough for him?"
"No, he's not good enough for you."
"I think he's just fine Amanda."
"Well, that's your choice, not mine."
"Yes it is."
"Then ask him out. See if I care."
The back door was still opened which Megan forgot about. She really got at Amanda's throat and Nick heard every word she was saying.
"You know what Amanda? You should care!!! Everyone knows you're falling for him. You just aren't smart enough to admit it! All you can see is how stubborn you are. You won't admit if because all you've been doing is denying it and you don't want people to tell you I told you so. So why don't you take that fork and stick it up your butt."
"Whoa! Tension!"
Megan went to Amanda's room changed and grabbed all of her things. She stormed out of the house to see Nick sitting on his front step.
"Hey." he said.
Megan stopped in her tracks and turned around.
"Hi."
"I, uh...heard what was going on with you and Amanda. I'm sorry."
"You're sorry?! You should be flattered!!!! We were fighting about you."
"Well, I am. " Nick paused for a moment before saying, "So do you want to go out with me tonight?"
Megan smiled and replied to Nick with, "I'd love to."
"Great. Tell me where you live and I'll pick you up about 7?"
"Yeah, that'd be good."
Megan told Nick where she lived and they talked for a few minutes before she took off. Meanwhile, Amanda was in her backyard sitting on her swing thinking of the past few things that have happened. She's been nothing but mean to Nick when he's tried to be nice, she's damaged his property, and just had a fight with her best friend. Tears streamed down her face as Nick walked in the back. He seen Amanda crying and looked at her. Amanda sensed him looking so she got up and walked back into her house.
She didn't want Nick to see her crying at all. She heard Nick and Megan talking about going out on their date and that just made her mad that she would do that to him. It wasn't her choice though and she couldn't stop it from happening or could she?
