It was a 7 hour drive back to Denver that day. She only stopped twice to make sure she would get there on time. She was staying with her parents during the week stay. Chris lived down the road so it was an easy visit.
Amanda pulled up into the driveway about 5 o' clock in the afternoon. She ran to the door and knocked on it. Her younger sister opened the door and let her in. Her family was so happy to see her again. She gave her parents and siblings hugs. Then after she put all of her stuff into her old room she walked the short walk to Chris's house.
Chris gave her a nice warm hug and friendly greeting. He closed the door behind her not wanting the chilly air to come in. Amanda said Hi to his parents and then followed Chris up to his room. It felt so nice to Amanda to be back in Denver with all of her friends and family.
"How have you been?" Chris asked sympathetically.
"I'm doing better but not that much better. It's just killing me inside. I love him but I can't get back with him after he did that. He cheated right in front of me."
"I know. I understand exactly how you feel. Julie did the same to me Amanda after you left. We're not together anymore. But I knew I had to get over her but it took time."
"Who ever thought that me, Amanda Jacobs, would fall in love with Nick Carter. Remember when Backstreet first came out we went to their concert and held up Metallica signs?" Amanda laughed.
"Yeah the good 'ol days." Chris smiled.
" You have to come to Cali sometime. I met this girl, Criss, and she is so nice. We've become great friends. Maybe I could uh, hook you two up."
"No way! The last time you hooked me up I ended up on a date with the captain of the football team!!"
"Well, that was just once. How about you come back with me? You could stay there for a week or so and catch a flight back?"
"I'd love to! I'm sure mom will let me. Let's go ask right now."
They talked it over with his parents. After about an hour or so of pleading the agreed to let him go.
That night Amanda and Chris went out with some good friends of theirs, Jason, Kaitlyn, Jake, Jenn, & Brian. First they seen a movie then went to play some games at the local arcade. Amanda got back home after 11 and went straight to bed.
Back in California...
Nick had stopped by Criss's house asking where Amanda was.
"I don't know Nick."
"If you know where she is please tell me."
"I don't. I'm going to be going out soon Nick."
"All right. I'll leave. But if you hear from Amanda please tell me."
"Bye Nick."
Nick took the 20 minute drive back to his house slowly. Amanda has been gone for almost the whole day. He never seen her leave. He was worried about her. When she didn't come back the next day or the next one he was really getting worried.
The tour started in 3 days and he would be leaving. He didn't want to say goodbye to Amanda. He wouldn't be able to since he didn't know where she was. Everyday he would ask Criss where she was but she never told him. Amanda told her not to tell Nick so she didn't plan on it. Amanda would be home in a couple of days.
3 days later....
Nick was leaving early in the morning for the US tour. He was leaving without saying bye to Amanda. He went over bright and early to Criss's house to say goodbye.
"I'll see you soon Criss." he said sweetly.
"You have fun Nick, I don't want to be hearing on the news that you jumped out of a hotel window or that you did something stupid." she joked.
"Ok MOM."
They gave each other a hug.
"Criss where is Amanda? I don't want to leave without saying bye."
Criss got a sad look on her face. "She's in Denver Nick. She's been there the past week. Amanda missed her friends and family and she needed to get away so she went there."
"Why didn't you tell me!?"
"Amanda told me not to."
"Now I won't be able to see her before I leave."
"I'm sorry Nick."
"It's ok. I better be going now. I'll call you when I get to the hotel."
"Bye cutie." she said
Nick left about 5 minutes later. He got back to his house to finish a few things up and then went off to the airport where he would take a flight to Florida to meet up with the rest of the guys.
Before he left he stood in front of Amanda's house.
"I love you." he whispered.
Later that night...
The 7 hour drive back to California was tiring. Her and Chris switched driving so one of them wouldn't be super tired. The whole way there they talked about what they would do and everything. They got to L.A. about 10 at night. There were no lights on at Nick's house so she assumed he wasn't home. Amanda gathered up her stuff out of the car and went into the house. She dropped the stuff into her room and showed Chris the room he would be staying in. She gave him a grand tour before dropping on the couch. Amanda fell asleep pretty fast so he went around and turned off the lights and shut the shades. He laid a blanket on top of her so she wouldn't get cold. Then he went to his room and fell asleep.
The Next Morning....
Amanda called up Criss to drop by later to meet Chris. She came over about 2 when Amanda and Chris were playing video games.
"Criss this is Chris." Amanda laughed.
"2 people with the same name."
"Hi Chris."
"Hi Criss."
All three of them shared a laugh.
"Amanda can I talk to you for a moment?"
"Yeah sure. I'll be right back Chris."
Amanda and her walked into her room.
"Nick left last night Amanda."
"He left already?"
"Yeah the tour starts tonight. He took a plane to Florida yesterday."
"And I wasn't here to say goodbye."
"I told him you were in Denver yesterday."
"I really needed to leave when I did. It felt good to be back there but I also like it here."
"Chris seems nice."
"He's wonderful."
Criss gave her warm smile.
"When will Nick be back?"
"The tour stops here in a couple of weeks but he won't be back back until 2 months."
"Oh, that's a long time. "
"Yeah."
"Anything could happen between those 2 months Criss."
"Yup, it sure can."
Criss and Amanda joined Chris in the living room to challenge each other to some video games. Chris ended up winning because Amanda had other things on her mind and Criss just didn't understand some of the games. They all agreed to go the movies tonight to see 007. Amanda loved those movies.
When they reached the theater memories of Nick and her first date came back to her. They shared it here. She quickly tried to erase them from her mind so she would have a good time with Criss and Chris tonight. The movie was awesome.
Back at Amanda's house they all just talked. They had music playing lightly in the room while Amanda and Criss sat on her bed with Chris on the floor.
"I can't believe Nick is going to be gone for 2 whole months." Amanda said.
"Yeah I know."
"2 months? Wow, that's a long time." Chris responded.
"Yeah." Amanda said softly.
"You still love him don't you Amanda?" Criss asked.
"Yeah, I guess I do. But I'm just so hurt."
"I can't believe Megan would do that to you Amanda. I've known her a long time and I never expected she could do that." Chris told her.
"Me either. I never knew she had it in her."
They had the radio on and 'I'll Never Break Your Heart' came on.
The room got totally silent and Amanda shut her eyes to stop the tears from coming. Nick sang this song to her once saying he'd never break her heart. It was their song.
"Please turn it off Chris." Amanda whispered softly.
He pressed the Power button for it to go off.
"I've got to get some air, I'll be back." Amanda got off the bed and walked outside onto her back porch. She sat there with her arms crossed just staring into Nick's backyard. Tears fell down her face slowly as she remembered all the good times she had with Nick. She sat down on the step with her head in her hands. She felt a hand touch her shoulder and sit down next to her. Amanda looked up to see Chris sitting next to her. He pulled her into a hug and told her everything would be all right.
"I really hope so Chris. I hope so."
