OLD BUSINESS:
NEW BUSINESS:
- Tournament News:
- Two add sheets were given to each Board Member.
- We still need a 10U and a 14U All-Star sponsor. Cyndi will get a
team sponsor form for the All-stars to Susan.
- We voted to not rent Port-A-Johns for the tournament.
- We will stamp the hands of the people coming in at the
tournament. Glory volunteered a strawberry stamp she has and we
will use different colors for each day.
- Cyndi wanted everyone to know that is a Manager/Scorekeeper/Team
Mom/Coach or player from New Bern shows up in uniform for the tournament
they will not be charged to come in.
- The homerun derby will be open to all girls. It will be the
furthest of three hits from the pitching machine. Our girls are
invited to shag balls in the outfield for the event also.
- We had a very personal clear the air session where all the members were
invited to speak their mind with out fear of any kind of reprisal.
There was about a 45 minute discussion about some in-fighting and he
said/she said issues. The Board is now more resolved and united then
before.
- The games for the 14U will count toward games needed for the All-stars.
- Cyndi has reserved the fields on Fridays from 6-9 for pick up games.
All Babe Ruth girls are invited to attend.
- The off-nights during the season can be scheduled for practice. Call
the Rec dept.
- We are short one member on the Board. We nominated and approved
Terry Hall to fill that slot. He has a one year term. We also
called Ted Connor to confirm that he was interested in staying on the
Board. He is.
- Susan (and Cyndi) has been receiving some nasty phone calls from Parents
and Sponsors concerning the numbers on jerseys and the color of the
uniforms. We voted to back Susan in the color and number choices.
There is not enough time before the season starts to bicker about
colors. We also agreed that a uniform wil have no more than two
colors. The shirt color and the color of the lettering of the logo.
The number will be the same color as the logo lettering. No one is
allowed to add the name to the uniform, even if the sponsor agrees to pay
for it.
- We motioned, seconded and passed a resolution to order 10,000 generic fund
raising tickets. 5000 for Lowes and 5000 for Wal-Mart. The tickets
will sell for $2.00 a piece and will be sold from opening day to the last
day of the District Tournament. There will be no inventive for the
girl who sold the winning ticket. The cost of 2500 each was $130 and
for 5000 each was $212.
- Bill wants to put up some 4X4s to hold some netting for soft toss
practice. Glory is looking into getting us some 10X10 or 8X8 pieces of
used netting from some fishermen she knows. Bill also wanted to mount
standings and information boards between the fields. He has the
approval of the County to mount both. The Board motioned, seconded and
approved for Bill to spend no more than $350 on the supplies. He will
purchase the stuff and get reimbursed by the league.
- No one can get up with Joe Green who is the Umpire In Charge. A motion was
made, seconded and passed to make Todd Schroeder the UIC for this
year. He will contact some of the more trusted umpires he has worked
with in the past. He will be getting a key to the lights.
- Bill gave out schedules and a small dissertation about what went into the
schedule. A motion was made, seconded and approved to approve the schedule.
- If a game is rained out, it will be played on the next scheduled
night. In other words, game 2 is March 28 and Game 3 is March
30. If game 2 is rained out, it is then played on March 30 and Game 3
is played on the night Game 4 was scheduled. If one game on a day goes
and the other is rained out, the rained out game is moved to the end of the
schedule and played if it affects the standings.
- Interlock play does not count in standings but does go to game count.
- The Round Robins that the District wants to play will be played with
whoever shows up. It will be no more than a practice.
- We are still trying to get the cooler fixed that Pepsi owns. The
Soltow's know someone who can fill it with freon and Cyndi will get them to
contact him.
- Susan has plaques from last year. They have a place for team
pictures and some teams did not have the team picture done. She is
going to call the recipients and ask it they want it. If they do, she
is going to get a smaller plaque without the place for the picture and give
it to them. We will make sure that team pictures are taken this year
and that the plaques are handed out more timely.
- Diane Williams will be taking action shots this year and will make them
available to the parents.
- Chick is doing the team and individual pictures this year. He is
offering full body still shots for $10.
- Opening day the girls need to be at the field no later than 9:00am.
Pictures will start then and will continue through opening ceremonies.
We will have Skip Waters, Trechelle Johnson for the talent and the Southern
Gentlemen Barber Shop chorus for the National Anthem.
- The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, April 8th at 6:30pm at
Temple Baptist upstairs back right.
- There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:48.
Respectfully submitted,
Robin Ball, League Secretary
