Final Task

Take out your Ocarina and play the Prelude of Light. You will be transported to the Temple of Time. There, you will meet Sheik. Sheik will tell you of a legend, that whoever takes hold of the Triforce must be balanced in power, wisdom, and courage. If he is unbalanced, the Triforce will split. The holder will keep the Triforce of the element he believes in the most, and the other two Triforces will go to predestined people. They will be known by the Triforce symbol on their hands. Ganondorf now has the Triforce of Power. Link, you have the Triforce of Courage. Then Sheik shows the Triforce symbol on his hand. Then Sheik reveals herself as Zelda! (Although how that full skirt managed to fit into that bodysuit she was wearing is a mystery.) Zelda had to disguise herself as a Sheikah to hide from Ganondorf. Now she’s ready to go back and get rid of Ganondorf for good. But she needs you, with your Triforce of Courage, to protect her while she goes. Then she’ll give you Light Arrows! These supposedly pierce through evil’s darkness. Suddenly, there’s a rumble then Zelda will be encased in a crystal. Ganondorf has captured her and now has access to her Triforce of Wisdom. He taunts you to come to his castle to save Zelda. Well, heck yeah! Let’s go.

Go to where Hyrule Castle was before. You’ll see that it’s quite different. It’s now Ganon’s Castle and in the middle of a massive lava pit. Ya know, typical bad guy lair. Go forward some and you’ll see some semi-buried steps. Go on those and Rauru will contact you. He’ll say that there are six barrier protecting Ganon’s Tower. You need to destroy those barriers then save Princess Zelda. Then the sages make a bridge for you to cross over to Inside Ganon’s Castle. So go on in.

Go down some stairs and you’ll see two Beamos. Kill them if you want then go into the next room. You’ll see this big tower surrounded by purpleness, being powered by different colored currents from different rooms. Each area and current represents a sage. Let’s start with the green current, coming from the Forest area to your right.

In the middle of the first room are four torches. Go to them and a Wolfos will pop up. Kill it and a treasure chest will appear. You might have to use your Lens of Truth to see it. Inside is a blue rupee. Light the four torches, then look above the next door and light the torch there. When all the torches are lit, the door will unbar. Go on through. In the next room are silver rupees. You’ll have to employ your hover boots. To your right and left are fans. Wait by the one to the left until it gets going good, then put your hover boots on and walk into the way of the fan. You will be blown into a rupee and onto a platform. There will be a rupee above you, but don’t be concerned with it now. Go to the platform in the middle, then the one across the way, collecting rupees as you go. Then jump to the middle platform and to the platform in front of the barred door. Take off your hover boots and wait for the fan on the right to turn off completely. Quickly jump to the small platform in front of the fan and back. Then jump to the lower platform in front of the fan to the left. Step on the switch- it will make a target column to appear under the rupee you couldn’t reach before. Put your hover boots back on and jump to the platform by the door. Then Longshot to the target column. When you have the last rupee, the door will unbar. Put on your Kokiri boots, and go through the door. You will see the green current around an orange sphere. To your right and left are pots with a heart and a magic bottle. Get those then shoot the sphere with a light arrow. The current will stop, the sphere will burst, and Saria will appear telling you that the Forest barrier is broken and to hurry. You will be transported to outside the Forest area and you see that the green current will stop feeding the purple around the tower. Now go down the stairs and enter the Water area.

In here, it’s like the Ice Caverns. In the first room, there are two Freezards. Kill them and the door will be unbarred. There are also two treasure chests in the room. Avoid the one to the left, it’ll turn you into a temporary ice cube. The one to the right, though, has a heart filler in it. Then get some blue fire from the torch in the middle of the room and burn away the red ice blocking the door. Then go back and refill your bottle with blue fire. Then you have two minutes to complete the next room. It’s one with sliding blocks of ice. Go to the block furthest from you, and push it from the left against the rock. The go to the left and push it from there so that it falls into the hole. Then get behind the other block and push it into the rock furthest from it. Then go to the right and push it into the second rock. Then go to the right again and push it against the wall. Then climb up the block and onto the edge. Use your blue fire to burn the red ice. A rusted switch is up there. Smack it with your Megaton Hammer. This will unbar the door. Quickly climb down, then climb up the other edge and through the door to go to the next room. This is the room with the blue current and sphere. Get your goodies from the pots, then shoot the sphere with a light arrow. The sphere will burst and Ruto will appear, telling you the Water barrier was dispelled. Then you’ll be transported to outside the Water area and the blue current will stop. Now go up the stairs to the Shadow area.

The first thing you’ll notice is a Green Bubble and a whole lot of nothingness. Look to the right. In the distance, there’s a lone torch. Light it with a fire arrow and platforms will appear. But hurry, they’re only there for a short time. If you want, you can go to the treasure chest to the left, but it’s only a blue rupee. If you do decide to do that, longshot to the target above the entrance, then relight the torch. Go forward , but watch out. That Green Bubble that was floating around is going around a platform. Make sure he’s out of the way before you jump. When you get to the platform on the other side, watch out for the Like Like. Run past it and get jump over to the next platform before the torch goes out. Now take out your Lens of Truth. You’ll see little pathways. Go on the one in front of you. A little ways on the path, drop down to the platform with the switch. Step on the switch and a big chest will appear. Longshot to it and open it. Inside are the Golden Gauntlets! You can pick up even heavier things! Now use your Lens again and follow the pathways to the left that lead to the rusted switch. Hit it with your Megaton Hammer and it will unbar your next door. Go back to the platform (longshoting to the big chest saves magic) and follow the first pathways to the door. Lighting the torch by this door only shows you platforms that would lead to the first switch. Go through the door. Collect the goodies from the pots and shoot the sphere. Impa will appear and tell you the Spirit barrier is dispelled. You will be transported to outside the Spirit area and see the current die. Now go the Fire area.

Navi will warn you when you enter the room that it’s too hot in here. So put your Goron Tunic on. Jump on the platform in front of you. It will start to sink under your weight. Jump to the platform to the right and get the silver rupee. But watch out because that platform will start to sink too. Jump back on the main platform, go forward some, then take the path to the left. It will lead to a platform with a spinning fire thing. Just walk between the two fires and get the second rupee. When you can, jump back on the main platform, then walk forward and to the left. Jump to the platform with a heart filler, then quickly jump to the skinny part of the platform to your left. You’ll see a big black column. You’ll also see the action button says grab. So try grabbing it. With those Gold Gauntlets, you can pick that mother up and throw it into the lava. Get the silver rupee that was under it. Jump back on the main platform then go to the platform to the right with the Torch Slug. Kill the Torch Slug and get the silver rupee. Then jump on the big black pillar that you threw and jump to the last rupee. This will unbar the door. Longshot to it and go through. Get the goodies from the pots, then shoot the sphere with a light arrow. Darunia will appear and tell you that the Fire barrier is dispelled. You will again be transported to outside the Fire area and the Fire current will die away.

Go down the stairs and you will see another big black pillar. Pick it up and throw it away. Here you’ll see the entrance to the Light area. This should be interesting; it’s not like we had to save a Light Temple or anything. In the first room is an invisible Skulltula. You can see it with your Lens of Truth. Kill the Skulltula, then kill the three invisible Keese perched on the of the treasure chests. Kill all the bad guys and an invisible treasure chest will appear in the middle of the room. A key is inside. In case you’re wondering, in the first treasure chest (to the front left of the entrance) is a blue rupee. The next one (the one to the right of that, going clockwise) is frost that will turn you into a Linkcube. Next is a heart filler. Then more frost, then a bundle of arrows, and, finally, more frost. Now go on into the next room. This is a small room with a Triforce symbol on the floor. Go to it and play Zelda’s Lullaby. A treasure chest containing a key will fall on the floor the right. Get the key and go into the next room. This next room is interesting. It’s a small circular room with two rolling boulders. You have to collect all the silver rupees and go to the next room within a minute. There are rupees in the little grooves against the wall and the corners of the platform in the middle. To get the rupee on top of the platform, go into one of the grooves in the wall and longshot to the target above the rupee. Then go in the next room. This is weird. It looks like the room with the current and sphere, but there’s no current or sphere. But look through your Lens. There’s a pathway to another part of the room. Be careful, though, because Navi failed to warn you about the Wallmasters. >_< Quickly go through to the next part of the room and there you’ll find the sphere. Don’t forget your goodies. Shoot the sphere and Rauru will appear and tell you that the Light Barrier is dispelled. You’re again transported back to the main room to watch the current stop. Now go up the stairs and to the Spirit area.

In the first room, there’s a lot of activity. There’s a Beamos, spiky sliders, and statues. Yes, it’s okay, they’re not Armos, they’re just plain statues. Kill the Beamos, get the silver rupee there. Then look up and longshot to that target to get the rupee above you. Then collect the rest of the rupees. If you need to, you can move the statues so it’s easier for you to get the rupees without getting hurt. When you get all the rupees, the door will unbar, so go on to the next room. In here, there are two Torch Slugs. Kill them, then look at the top of the bars. There’s an opening. Pull out a Bombchu and send him up through that hole. It should it a crystal. This will unbar the door. If you want, you can hit the closer crystal. It makes a treasure chest with Bombchus appear on the other side of the door. Anyway, go on and you’ll see a circular area with some suns. Look at the ceiling, there’s some webbing. Shoot it with a fire arrow and it will burn away and sunlight will pour in. Using your Mirror Shield, shine light on the second sun from the right of the next door. The other suns will send out Wallmasters on you. But they give off mad rupees when you kill them. Anyway, go on to the next room. It the current’s source room. Get your goodies, kill the sphere, and Nabooru will confirm that the Spirit Barrier is dispelled. You will be transported to outside the Spirit area and the Spirit current will cut off. Since the purple force around the tower has nothing to feed off of, it dies. Now you can get in the tower.

Now, I know you’re eager and all, but I suggest that you stock up on some blue potion before you continue. You can get it from the old lady behind the potion shop in Kakariko Village. Also, before you return to Inside Ganon’s Castle, keep going right of that rainbow bridge the sages made for you. On the other side of the archway is a Gold Skulltula. Keep going and you’ll see another big black column. Move it out of the way and reveal the entrance to the Great Fairy’s Fountain. Go on in and play Zelda’s Lullaby on the Triforce symbol. The Great Fairy of Courage will appear. She’ll increase your defensive power. Meaning a white outlining will appear around your hearts, and the damage enemies inflict on you is decreased by half. Pretty nice, huh? Alright, now go back inside Ganon’s castle, and into the tower.

First there’s a big circular room with a whole buttload of Fire Keese. Ignore them and go up the stairs to the left. Go in the door and you’ll encounter two Dinaflos. Kill them the same as Lizalfos. When they’re gone, the door will unbar so go through it. Go through the corridor and into the next room. Walk around a little and two Stalfos will pop up. Kill them and the column of fire will go away and the door will unbar. Get the boss key from the chest (whew, getting nervous?) and continue through the door. Go through the corridor and into the next room. In HERE are two Iron Knuckles. BLAH! Okay, but remember, they only activate when you hit them. So just take them one at a time. When they’re both dead, the next door will unbar. Go through it and up the corridor. At the top of the corridor is the door to the boss’ lair. Enter.

You’ll see this REALLY tall column. You can climb it, but it goes all the way to the ceiling. In some of the corners are some pots. Stock up on supplies if you need to, but ration yourself. To the right of the door you came in, there’s another door. Go through that door and up yet another corridor. It’s creepy though, because it’s a really long corridor and it gets brighter the higher up you go. Aren’t you supposed to be getting closer to the “king of evil”? It’s a scary irony. When you finally get to the top, go through the door.

Now, I usually just mute the game while I play it and write the walkthrough, but I turn it up for cinematic scenes. And I remember Ganondorf playing the organ….That’s what you see when you enter the room. That and Zelda above him in her crystal thing. The Triforce symbol on your hands grow bright… The Triforce pieces are reunited because all the holders are in the same room. And Ganondorf is determined to obtain it all for himself. So you have to fight Ganondorf, Great King of Evil.

He will shoot waves of darkness at you, which keeps Navi from getting close and helping you. But your hearts will fill up, so that’s nice. He will begin flying around and send tremors through the ground making a ring of blocks fall. Jump from the center platform to one of the corners. (By the way, where the crud did Zelda and that organ go?) Ganondorf will shoot an energy blast at you. Hit it back at him like you did with Phantom Ganon. After awhile, he’ll miss. When he misses, shoot a light arrow at him. Aim carefully, because you can’t Z-target him right now. If you get him with the light arrow, he’ll fall to the ground. When this happens, jump to him, and slash him. (To do more damage, I equip and unequip my Biggoron Sword as needed like with Twinrova.) After awhile, he will get back up. Quickly jump back to a corner because he’s gonna send some more tremors out, making more blocks fall. After awhile, instead of a ball of light to throw at you, Ganondorf will begin collecting a ball of darkness above him. When he does this, just runs around the blocks to other corners. He’ll throw it, but if you’re moving, it won’t hit you. If you REALLY need to, you can climb down the center column to collect goodies from the pots in the corners, then climb back up. After awhile he’ll back off and start gasping for breath. He’ll say something about how he couldn’t believe that the King of Evil was defeated by a kid. Then he’ll puke up blood and become electrified. It shakes the whole place. The windows will break and when the dust settles, Ganondorf falls down dead.

Zelda in her crystal thing will float down to you and she’s released from her crystal. She’ll talk a little then the tower starts trembling. With his last breath, Ganondorf is tryin to crush you in the tower. You need to follow Zelda back down the tower. You have three minutes. You have to keep up with her or she’ll stop and wait for you. There will be rocks falling and if you get hit, she’ll stop and gasp. Of course, SHE never gets smacked with a rock. Actually, you can walk ahead of her, but don’t lose her. When you come to bars, she’ll open them. Remember in the tower how there were bars on the side of the rooms that wouldn’t open? Well, for some reason, Zelda can open them. When you get to the Stalfos room, a ring of fire will pop up around Zelda and you have to kill those two Stalfos before you can continue. Use your Biggoron sword to save time, cause you haven’t got much. When you finally get out, you’ll see the entire castle collapse. Then Zelda will say, “It’s over…it’s finally over…” -sigh- Navi will apologize for not being able to help you with Ganondorf. Then you hear a thud that startles you all… If you talk to Zelda, she’ll just ask what that noise was. No, YOU, Hero of Time, you get to go check it out for yourself. Go back into the rubbish.

After you walk a ways, a ring of fire will separate you and Zelda. Then Ganondorf will pop up out of the rubbish. (Won’t this guy just DIE?) But his eyes are glowing. Then he holds up his wrist, he still has the Triforce of Power. Then he transforms himself into a big piggish monster, with, uh, really big swords – Ganon. He’ll knock the Sword of Time out of your hands and beyond the fire! But Navi tells you that there’s no way Ganon’s going to keep her away. Then the battle begins.

Some help Navi is, though. Z-target Ganon and ask Navi and she’ll tell you, “I really have no idea what his weak point is!” Nice. But Plexie knows! First of all, Z-target him and back up a little. Then shoot him with a light arrow. He’ll go down. Staying targeted, walk around behind him and hit his tail with either the Biggoron sword or the Megaton Hammer. (My personal preference is the Megaton Hammer.) Only do it once, then back up and shoot him with a light arrow again, continuing the process. If you need supplies, put some debris between the two of you, Ganon will hit them and some goodies will fly out. Like with the Iron Knuckles. Do this a few times and Ganon will go down and the ring of fire will exterminate. Zelda will tell you that you can get your Master Sword back now. Go get it, then reenter the battlefield. Just repeat the same thing- light arrows, hit his butt. You can use the Master Sword now, I don’t think it matters if you use that or continue with the Megaton Hammer or Biggoron Sword. After awhile, he’ll go down again and a burst of energy will come from Zelda. She’ll tell you that she’s holding him down and to give the final blow. You’re sword will energize. Go on and hit him in the face. Then the cinema will take over and you see yourself whacking the snot out of him. It’s all rather dramatic. Ganon goes down, but then gets pissed off. Then you see Zelda calling on the six sages. She’ll do HER little sage thing, and you see the other sages follow in suit. Next thing you know, Ganondorf is floating around in white nothingness. He'll curse Zelda, the sages, and you. Then he threatens your descendants if his seal is ever broken…because he still has the Triforce of power…

Then you see yourself and Zelda facing each other in the clouds. She thanks you and tells you that Ganondorf is locked up in the Sacred Realm. So peace will once again come to Hyrule. Then she feels bad because all of the tragedy that has befallen Hyrule was her doing. She asks you to replace the Sword of Time and close the Door of Time. Thus doing will close your passage through time. She asks for the Ocarina of Time so she can return you to your normal self. But when peace returns to Hyrule, you two will have to say goodbye. –sniff- Then she returns you home, where you’re supposed to be, how you’re supposed to be…

The end.

-sniff-

You should watch the credits. They do an overview of all the familiar areas in Hyrule. It’ll get you all misty-eyed. Then you’ll see all the races, together, at Lon Lon Ranch, have a party around a bonfire. You see Gorons, Zoras, Kokiri, Hylians, Kakarians, even Gerudo. (Although, I thought the Kokiri weren’t allowed to leave the forest? Oh well, I’m glad they get to join in the festivities.) Then you’ll see King Zora and Mido sitting off to the side. Mido looks up and you’ll see five balls of light streaking through the sky. Then you see Saria, Darunia, Ruto, Nabooru, and Impa on Death Mountain, looking out over their lands. Then you get transported back to the Temple of Time as a child. Since you have to go back to leading a normal life, you no longer need Navi. So she’ll slowly fly away, through the Temple of Time window. Then you look around, turn and leave. You next see Zelda, looking through the palace window. What does she see now? We don’t know, but she hears you and turns around. And you two just gaze at each other for awhile. And although you’re back in time and everything is back to normal… You both know, and you will never forget.

The end. (Again.) –sniff- (Again.)

Like my little dramatic commentary there? :)
