"There she is!" I said excitedly, pointing at Kaara, only Taylor didn't know who to look for.
"Where?" He asked me.
"The girl with the blue top on" I said, waving madly to get Kaara's attention. She finally saw me and her face lit up.
"AGHHH!!! HIII!!!!!" She squealed as she broke into a run to reach me. Kaara all but hurled herself into my arms in a huge hug. It had just been over a month since we'd seen each other, you would think that it had been five years. "What do I call you?" She whispered in my ear.
"Jaida" I whispered back as quietly as I could. Louder I said "I can't believe you're here!" Kaara grinned.
"I know. It's so great to see you again." She said. I then remembered Taylor, who had taken a few steps back. I saw Kaara smile at Taylor but then her face filled with surprise. "Um, Jaida... who's this?" She asked me. I prayed that she wouldnt say anything about Taylor's uncanny resemblance to Lucas. Luckily, she didn't.
"Oh, this is Taylor..... my uh... my new boyfriend" I said. Taylor smiled at Kaara.
"Hey... Jaida's been talkin bout you non-stop all day... how was your trip?"
"Fine thanks..." Kaara said as she looked at me with a 'I'll-talk-to-you-later' look on her face. The three of us then went to Taylor's car and headed back to his house.
"Kaara, are you sure you don't want to go home first? I mean you must be tired... you can meet my friends tomorrow" I said. We had called Taylor's house and found out that everyone was there. I turned around in my seat to face Kaara. She shook her head.
"I'm not tired... besides, I wanna see if Taylor's brother is as cute as you say he is" She said with a sly grin on her face. I laughed.
"Who Zac? Yeah, he's a little cutie" I repled.
"Hey! Who's girlfriend are you anyway?" Taylor asked, pretending to be hurt. Both Kaara and I laughed.
"Awww... I'm sorry Tay" I said.
"No you're not."
"Yeah I am"
"I don't believe you"
"Why not?"
"Coz I just don't"
"Are you two always like this? How long have you been together anyway?" Kaara asked us. I glanced at Taylor.
"Umm... nearly a week" Taylor said.
"Just a week? Geez, you two act like you've been together for years" Kaara commented. I smiled and I saw that Taylor was smiling also. We soon arrived at Taylor's house, but saw none of our friends cars out front. Meaning they weren't there or had already left. We got out of the car and walked inside. We then walked into the family room. Zac, Isaac, Kim and Avery were in there. Isaac and Kim were snuggled up on the sofa together, watching Zac and Avery and were laughing. My eye's rested on Zac and I had to laugh. Zac was sprawled out on a recliner chair, upsidedown so his feet were hanging over the back of the chair. He was asleep. Avery was sitting on the floor, brushes, combs, clips, ribbons and hair ties scattered around her. She was happily playing with Zac's long hair while he slept.
"Hey Aves... what are you doing?" Taylor asked. His voice woke Zac and he opened his eyes. He saw Kaara and quickly sat up.
"ZAC! I wasn't finished!" Avery cried. Zac glanced down at Avery and then he felt his hair. It was everywhere, Avery had brushed it so that it was very poofy and there were various ribbons tied in it. It looked hilarious
"Avery! My god what the hell have you been doing?" Zac yelled, looking down at his little sister.
"Ike said I could!" Avery protested. Zac cast his angry gaze at Isaac, who was sitting on the couch, looking directly at Zac, grinning.
"Why?" Was all Zac asked.
"Well, she wanted to play with someone's hair and you were asleep... Zac, don't get pissed off at her. She didn't do anything wrong." Isaac said, turning serious. By now, Avery looked miserable.
"Avie.. come here honey" Kim said, opening her arms to Avery. Avery got up and went over to Kim.
"I'm sorry Zac" She said quietly. Zac sighed and tried to smooth out his hair with his hands.
"It's ok... I'm not mad at you" He said.
"You're not?"
"Nope". Zac gave Avery a small smile, as if to prove that he wasn't mad. Avery gave a smile back and then went out of the room. Zac got up from his chair. "I'll be right back" He said, I noticed that his eyes rested on Kaara for a second longer than normal before he walked out of the family room. When he came back, the ribbons had been removed and his hair had been brushed and pulled back into a low pony tail. I watched as Kaara followed Zac with her eyes as he sat down on the floor. I couldn't help but wonder if there was a budding relationship between them.
