I have been waiting to hear the following truth for over thirty three years! Finally! I hope the rest of the protesters WAKE UP! Grif.
An Open Letter to the "Anti-War" Demonstrators
Think Twice Before You Bring The War Home
by David Horowitz
FrontPageMagazine.com | September 27, 2001
I am a former anti-war activist who helped to organize the first campus
demonstration against the war in Vietnam at the University of California,
Berkeley in 1962. I appeal to all those young people who participated in
"anti-war" demonstrations on 150 college campuses this week, to think again
and not to join an "anti-war" effort against America's coming battle with
international terrorism.
The hindsight of history has shown that our efforts in the 1960s to end the
war in Vietnam had two practical effects. The first was to prolong the war
itself. Every testimony by North Vietnamese generals in the postwar years has
affirmed that they knew they could not defeat the United States on the
battlefield, and that they counted on the division of our people at home to
win the war for them. The Vietcong forces we were fighting in South Vietnam
were destroyed in 1968. In other words, most of the war and most of the
casualties in the war occurred because the dictatorship of North Vietnam
counted on the fact Americans would give up the battle rather than pay the
price necessary to win it. This is what happened. The blood of hundreds of
thousands of Vietnamese, and tens of thousands of Americans, is on the hands
of the anti-war activists who prolonged the struggle and gave victory to the
Communists.
The second effect of the war was to surrender South Vietnam to the forces of
Communism. This resulted in the imposition of a monstrous police state, the
murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent South Vietnamese, the
incarceration in "re-education camps" of hundreds of thousands more, and a
quarter of a century of abject poverty imposed by crackpot Marxist economic
plans, which continue to this day. This, too, is the responsibility of the
so-called anti-war movement of the 1960s.
I say "so-called anti-war movement," because while many Americans were
sincerely troubled by America's war effort, the organizers of this movement
were Marxists and radicals who supported a Communist victory and an American
defeat. Today the same people and their youthful followers are organizing the
campus demonstrations against America's effort to defend its citizens against
the forces of international terrorism and anti-American hatred, responsible
for the September attacks.
I know, better than most, the importance of protecting freedom of speech and
the right of citizens to dissent. But I also know better than most, that
there is a difference between honest dissent and malevolent hate, between
criticism of national policy, and sabotage of the nation's defenses. In the
1960s and 1970s, the tolerance of anti-American hatreds was so high, that the
line between dissent and treason was eventually erased. Along with thousands
of other New Leftists, I was one who crossed the line between dissent and
actual treason. (I have written an account of these matters in my
autobiography, Radical Son). I did so for what I thought were the noblest of
reasons: to advance the cause of "social justice" and "peace." I have lived
to see how wrong I was and how much damage we did - especially to those whose
cause we claimed to embrace, the peasants of Indo-China who suffered
grievously from our support for the Communist enemy. I came to see how
precious are the freedoms and opportunities afforded by America to the
poorest and most humble of its citizens, and how rare its virtues are in the
world at large.
"If I have one regret from my radical years, it is that this country was too
tolerant towards the treason of its enemies within. If patriotic Americans
had been more vigilant in the defense of their country, if they had called
things by their right names, if they had confronted us with the seriousness
of our attacks, they might have caught the attention of those of us who were
well-meaning but utterly misguided. And they might have stopped us in our
tracks."
This appeal is for those of you who are out there today attacking your
country, full of your own self-righteousness, but who one day might also live
to regret what you have done.

PROTEST NOT, YOUR FLAG OF RED, WHITE AND BLUE!
THAT SEPTEMBER DAY
A poem by Lydia Lopez-Ruiz 9/21/01
It seems our blue sky has turned to gray
With tear swollen eyes and trembling hands
America turns their eyes to heaven
And begins to pray
Lord
We’ve put our hearts together
And now we are one…
For
Our faith will not falter
Our will, will not die
Amongst the rubble the terrorist left
On that very day
Our families and friends remembered
On that dark September day
Fighting for the honor
That America stands for each and every day
We are Americans
The people began to say
Osama Bin Laden
You better begin to pray!
May the American Flag Stand
A poem by Shirley Bolstok
As the fiery smoke reached into American skies
The roaring sound was heard all over the world
And the tears poured from the eagle’s eyes
And a whole new terror was unfurled
The sacrifice trembled into our hearts and souls
Flaming our hearts with the rage of the innocent
Shattering our dreams, foundation and goals
Covering us in the darkness of an unprovoked incident
Fire fighters and Police died with lives they tried to save
As a another tower came down in a thundering crash
We said "good-bye", to lost heroes, courageous and brave
The American Flag came down in half-mast
And so now we must stand
Let us let go of blame and stand for truth
Let us stand and take our neighbors hand
Let us stand for the future of our youth
May the American Flag stand in the badge of it’s plight
Red standing for the courage and victories our forefathers led
White stands for the purity of freedom and light
Blue stands for the glorious flame ever present in our view
It is now that we need each other the most
We must stand together, coast to coast
Stand brother to brother, sister to sister
Stand woman to woman, man to man
Stand shoulder to shoulder, hand to hand
For if we all stand together,
There is no storm we cannot weather
We will march to the sound of thunder
For what God has put together
Let no man pull asunder…
As we adhere to the dreams of this land
The memories of our beloved, will burn in us forever
And through their honor, let liberty stand
FREE SPEECH...Give me a break!
Just about everywhere I look anymore, there it is... civilians screaming in my face! They hide behind the 1st Amendment shouting, "This is America, I can say anything I please, I have the right to free speech! We'll burn the Flag and tell our troops they are cowards and no one can stop us!" The media covers all their protests so these disloyal pacificts are heard loud and clear! Free media coverage, whether intentional or not... fosters and speads their misguided, libelous, and slanderous words!
Our law abiding millitary men and women can not, when in uniform, dispute or argue with these people. But... I can and I will! Freedom of speech protects my right to be heard also! I am an American mother and my family and I are proud of our military service!
America is a nation of laws, there seem to be laws to protect every person from every walk of life. But there does not seem to be any laws to protect the United States millitary from civilian bigotry. They are forced to remain quiet, in the background, while protesters march shouting their obsentities and carrying thier "peace" signs. These pacificists wrongly proclaim our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines baby killers, cowards, imperialist pigs, etc, etc...the list goes on and on and on! It is breaking my heart and I am sick of it! It must stop!
These same people are the first ones to cry for help when they want the military to help them; in their perceived times of constitutional crisis! Too bad the military are the last ones they remember when it is over. They want the military to fight their battles for them, but want no part in the fight themselves!
Thanks to their self serving perversion of the right to free speech, they have gotten many of our brave service people killed needlessly! They know our enemies hear them loud and clear! Their protests, their free speech, have given our enemies the support and confidence to keep killing our warriors! Free speech is one of our most prized possession, and unfortunately, the most abused!
They must be made to stop this abuse before patriotism is completely dead and all of us too!
Our military goes when and where they are told, without question! They help the people of other nations that want to be free of tyranny, terrorism, genocide, famine...all kinds of misery! These poor people want the same things these Americans take for granted.
Our military, at times, is forced to eat slop, live in squaller, beaten, tortured, starved, shot
at, and demoralized by our enemies! The protesters make matters worse and they know it! Our brave soldiers see their buddies blown to pieces and it dosen't seem to matter to these antagonists!
This "Free Speech," as they like to call it, is not free! It has a big price tag on it, and our military pays the bill! They have gotten it cheap! Where were they when our military threw in the ante?
They either don't realize it, or just don't want to, but their angry protests feed our enemies' ego, boost their morale, keep them going... so they can kill more of us! Wake up America!
Here in America it is against the law to slander a person, to put thier reputation or profession in jeopardy. We have the right to sue if these laws are violated. To me it is the same violation to call our military cowards! You are defaming their good name, their reputation and their profession! You are also putting our own lives in danger! Our military people are American citizens too! They should be protected by this same law also!
I'm going to sum up my feelings how I feel about America at this moment with an excerpt from a new book just released. The author said it better than I ever could.
Bill O'Reilly, (The O'Reilly Factor) No-Spin-City
"Well, here's how bad things have gotten in America. The Josephson Institute of Ethics reports that half of all high school students steal. Seven in ten admit to cheating on tests, and 92% say they lie. And most of those kids don't feel much guilt at all. Remorse is becoming obselete in the USA. Excuses covers all misdeeds, after all there is a desease to cover just about every immoral action! If you question that, you are a mean, insensitive person. The misery industry has it all covered."
Why do the patriots of America continue to fight for this great nation of ours? Well, that's easy to answer! Because someone has to be the back-bone of America to keep it "FREE!" It sure isn't the protesters/pacifists! Our military are the ones that are called cowards, but these brave men and women have more courage in thier little pinkies than the protesters have in their entire body! The protesters/pacifists should try living in a country without these gallant defenders! We would see what they have to shout about then!
