The Honor Guard will promote the city and fire department by ensuring that all ceremonies and functions are performed in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner.
The Honor Guard is responsible for representing the colors at all events the Honor Guard participates in. The Honor Guard will function as an independent unit, and will be responsible for the coordination of all events surrounding the ceremonies. Ceremonies the Honor Guard will be involved in, but not limited to:
Funerals
The Durham Fire Department Honor Guard acts as the official representative of the Durham Fire Department in conducting funeral services for Durham Fire Fighters that die in the line of duty, that pass away due to natural causes or accidental deaths, as well as retirees.
The Honor Guard also serves as representative of the Durham Fire Department during special departmental functions and civic events as requested.
