What made Dale Earnhardt such a great man? He was a great racer who made no excuses for racing.
He commanded respect and also gave respect where it was due.
Let's remember the great times and fantastic memories he has given us!
He shall forever be alive in our hearts!

When we first seen the crash at Daytona we were shocked as we ever been. We couldn't believe that in a matter of a few seconds a true MASTER, HERO, and a ROLE-MODEL...would be gone forever! Dale Earnhardt, was a dear friend to everybody on the race track and outside of the race track. Dale Earnhardt did for racing what Wayne Gretzky did for hockey. He became an icon, someone you wanted to grow up and be like. I can remember purchasing my first car. It had to be black, and it had to be a Chevy. There was not one year or one race that stuck out in my mind as the one I never will forget, until now. NASCAR has lost a hero who never will be forgotten. The piece that really gets me is how he died. He had a chance to win the race, but decided to "take one for the team" and stay back and fight off the predators himself, not knowing that he would soon become the prey. It was the ultimate sacrifice. He died fighting for his son and his team. For that alone, he will forever be remembered.
