DURHAM -- Residents of a Durham apartment building were left homeless early Sunday morning after a fire heavily damaged their homes on Camellia Drive, off Bogart Road. Firefighters were called to the blaze at Azalea Park Apartments, 2406 Camellia Drive, at 3:30 a.m. About 40 firefighters responded.

Battalion Chief Dan Curia said the fire caused heavy damage to the eight-unit apartment building. No one was injured but the apartment building, which had seven of the units rented, was rendered unlivable, he said. Curia said the cause of the fire was still under investigation. A damage estimate was unavailable Sunday.
