A resident of the house escaped the fire and was transported to Duke University Hospital where she was treated for smoke inhalation, according to Krokowski. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire completely within 10 minutes after their arrival, Krokowski said. An estimated 50 percent of the house sustained smoke and water damage, he said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation late Sunday.
