Bethesda Volunteer Fire Assistant Chief Robert Andrews said officials received the call around 10:09 p.m. and arrived to find Mr. Engine Service Center, 1614 S. Miami Blvd., in flames.
Andrews said two vehicles inside the business were in flames. About 34 firefighters from Durham, Bethesda and Redwood fire departments had the flames under control within 30 minutes. Some flames still were visible inside the office section of the business at 11:15 p.m.
"There's some Fiberglas in there and we just can't get it out," Andrews said. The flames were contained to a small portion of the business.
Firefighters had knocked down two of the business's four bay doors to get to the blaze. Glass was missing from the remaining doors.
The owner of the business, whose name was unavailable, was on his way to the scene late Tuesday.
The Durham County Fire Marshal's office was trying to determine the cause of the blaze which remains under investigation. Fire and Durham County sheriff's officials blocked traffic on eastbound U.S. 70 and northbound Miami Blvd. while crews cleared the scene.
At 11:35 p.m., northbound Miami Boulevard was reopened onto U.S. 70 west.
