Station 7 opened in 1969 in North Durham. Station 7s first due area consist many residential neighborhoods, many commercial structures and numerous apartment complexes. Durham Regional Hospital as well as many nursing homes are covered by Engine 7.
As a result of a huge growth in population in north Durham over the last 10 years, Engine Co. 7 has become one of the busiest units in the Durham Fire Dept and in 2013 the department added a Squad Co. to the station.
