The Camp Hospitals

Hospitals in the camps were definetly not designed for the prisoners benefit. One women said “We fear the hospitals more than death”. Ill prisoners sent to the hospitals seldom returned alive, and if a child ever left the hospital, it was a miracle if they lived. Prisoners were treated no better in the hospitals, sometimes worse. The hospitals were highly understaffed, and made no effort to help sick people recover. Besides the extreme amount of neglect in the hospitals, there was also medical experimentation. Prisoners were guinea pigs to sadistic medical experiments like sterilization, various injections and operations. Most of these horrendous experimentations resulted in death. An even more chilling fact was that children were subject to these experiments also. Doctor Josef Mengele had a fascination with twins and was performing experiments on them and other children a majority of the time. Yet again, it is shocking that humans could stoop to this kind of treatment.
