STATION 13
ORGANIZED 1998

Engine CO. 13 was placed in service in 1998 to protect the growing population in southeast Durham and to protect parts of the recently annexed Research Triangle Park (RTP).
There are 3 firefighters and 1 officer assigned daily to Station 13. Station 13 along with Engine Co. 3 make up the Hazmat Team.
Station 13's population swells tremendously during the day as thousands of commuters pour into RTP. Industry in Research Triangle Park includes pharmecuticals, agriculture, aircraft engine manufacturing and several United States Government research facilities.
Engine 13 also covers Interstate 40, a major thoroughfare between Durham, Research Triangle Park and Raleigh. Engine 13 has a full complement of Hurst extrication equipment on their rig. Station 13 is also within five miles of Raleigh Durham Airport (RDU).
