Chapter Four

"I can't believe Taylor hung out with me! Maybe he's starting to like me! Ohmygod Liz, this is so cool!" Danielle exclaimed for the hundredth time later that night while we were on our way home. I grinned.

"It is so... he is really nice hey? I can't believe how popular they are... they're treated like celebrities around here aren't they?" I asked.

"Yup... they're so close to being signed! To think that there's a chance of me being Taylor Hansons girlfriend! He asked for my number... did you know that?"

"Yeah, I was there when he asked, remember?"

"Of course I do.... oh Liz, I am sooo excited about this! I've liked Tay for so long and now he's acting like I'm alive.... wow... do you think he'll call me?"

"I'm pretty sure he will. He seemed interested" I said. Danielle nodded.

"He did hey?... aghh, he is soooo damn HOT!". I laughed and had to agree. We reached my house and I said goodnight to Danielle. Feeling a little light headed from the small amount of alcohol I'd consumed, I made my way inside and up to my bedroom. I fell asleep with my head swimming of thoughts about Taylor, Danielle and the whole evening in general. The next day was not a day for homework. It was a day for me getting out and looking around some more. I bribed Dad into driving me to the mall and I spent the next hour or so walking around window shopping. I had some money with me (thanks to Dad) but didn't know what to buy. I went into a CD store and found the independant recroding CD's. After searching for a minute or so, I found what I was looking for. Hanson's latest CD. The picture on the front was gorgeous, especially Taylor. I turned the CD over and examined the song list. I didn't recognise any of the names but decided to buy it anyway.

"Liked what you heard last night did you?" A voice came from behind me, making me jump. I turned around and grinned widely when I saw who it was. I nodded.

"Yeah, it wasn't to bad."

"Well, you obviously liked it enough to buy the CD. Thankyou by the way"

"For what?"

"Buying the CD" Taylor said, laughing a little. I blushed slightly and smiled.

"Not a problem. Spoken to Danielle yet?"

"Yeah, I called her about an hour ago... we've got a date tonight"

"I'll bet she's stoked about that"

"She sounded happy. Did you have a good time last night?"

"Yeah, it was great. The entertainment left a bit to be desired though"

"Hey! That's not very nice. I personally thought the entertainment rocked" Taylor said. I grinned. "Anyway, I better get going. I saw you in here and decided to come say hi... I'll see you round Liz."

"Oh, okay then... bye Taylor"

"My friends call me Tay." Taylor said before smiling and walking away. I stood and watched him go. At one stage, he turned around and saw me still standing there. He waved. Embarrassed at being caught staring, I waved back and turned to walk in the opposite direction. I then realised I still had the CD in my hand, ready to be purchased. I smacked my forhead with the palm of my free hand and shanking my head, feeling stupid, walked over to the counter. After buying the CD, I wondered around the mall for another half an hour before deciding to get something to eat. Rather, my stomach decided for me. I couldn't help but notice that I secretly wanted to bump into Taylor again. It made me feel great to think that he thought of me as more than just an acquaintance. Acquaintances wouldn't go out of their way to go and say Hi. Smiling, I found what I wanted to eat, bought it and sat down at the first empty table I saw. It was a table for two and I couldn't help but wish that Taylor was sitting across from me.

"LIZ! HI!" A voice squealed beside me. I turned my head and smiled when I saw who it was.

"Hey Danielle... "

"Please, call me Danni... I really cant stand Danielle.. and besides, only my Mom calls me that." She said, sitting down across from me. She set down her tray of food and proceeded to unwrap her plastic knife and fork from their paper pouch. I nodded.

"Ok then... Danni." I smiled. "So... what brings you here?" I asked her, before taking a mouthful of my vegetable stir fry. I am vegetarian. I cant stand the thought of eating another living thing with flesh. Many people took great pleasure in pointing out that plants and fruits and vegetables are living things to. I answer them by pointing out that plants don't have a brain and a heart. That usually stumps them and shuts them up.

"I'm getting a new outfit for tonight... Taylor and I are going out!" Danielle told me excitedly. A pang of jealousy shot through me, but was gone just as quick as it came.

"Really! Thats great! Where are you going?" I asked, trying my best to sound happy for her. I decided against telling her about my little run in with Taylor earlier.

"I don't know... he said it's a surprise... and to dress neat casual.. so of course I had to get a new outfit." She said matter of factly.

"Oh, of course." I said, pretending to be serious.

"Shut up you! Don't make fun!" Danielle exclaimed, picking up a french fry from her plate and throwing it at me.

"Hey! Don't throw food at people... It's not nice!" I cried, a piece of broccoli already in my fingers. I threw it. The broccoli sailed past Danielles left shoulder. "Humph... you're just lucky I can't throw for shit!" I told her. Danielle laughed.

"Yup... lucky me. Anyway, why are you out and about by yourself?" She asked.

"Oh.. just needed some time out, you know. Everything is still majorly new to me and all a bit overwhelming. I'm surprised I can remember anyones name!"

"Yeah... it must be hard... I remember when I first moved here. I never went out... I was pretty much a no body!"

"No... you?" I asked, pretending to be shocked. Danielle picked up another french fry and aimed it at my head.

"Watch yourself girl..." She warned, a smile playing on her lips. I raised my hands infront of me in mock defence.

"Ok, ok I'll stop!". Danielle ate the fry.

"Thats better." She said after swallowing. We continued to chat and eat and eventually, it was time for us both to make a move. Dad was picking me up soon, and Danielle had to go home to get ready for her date with Taylor. When Dad and I arrived home, I went striaght up to my room, planning on starting some homework, only to find a letter from Sarah sitting on my bed. I egarly picked it up and tore it open.

Hey Lizzy!

I miss you sooooooooo much! I wish you'd come home! It sux here without you... Thanks heaps for your letter. I wasn't expecting one so soon after you left! What did you do? Write it on the damn plane? Knowing you, you probably did! *smile*

I don't think Mark quite knows what to do with himself now that you aren't here lusting after him. I think he misses that though. That boy knew damn well how you felt about him... trust me. He walks around the shopping centre now like a little lost puppy dog... I just might have to get a leash for that boy... *evil grin* nah.. I wouldn't do that to ya sweetie. Mark's all yours. I'm still working on getting that photo for ya...but I'll do what I can!

So, found me a hunky american fella yet? If you have, you're taking your time sending him down here.. what are ya doing? Having your way with him first then sending me whats left hey? Thought so. Seriously though, have you met anyone nice over there? Or are they all snobs? I remember you telling me that your Dad lived in a kinda rich area? What's it like to have money? Hey... american $$$ would be confusing hey?? .. isn't it all the same colour? that would be weird for me.. I have enough trouble with the differnet colours... *grin*

Um... ok then... I think I'll be going... you know how much I love writing letters... and if I dont send this now, Mike will read it for sure.. and I've only got 15 mins to catch the post office. I'll write a longer letter next time! Promise!
