Chapter Four -- Jealousy VS Partnership
The next morning, Lori steps out from her house at eight o'clock sharp and found that Nick has arrived already.
"Good morning Lori!"
"Good morning Nick! Am I late?"
"No... no, of course not. I just arrived a little bit early." Nick gets out of the car and open the door for Lori.
On their way to work, Nick turned on the radio. Once again, 'I Need You Tonight' is playing.
Open up your heart to me. And say what's on your mind.
That is exactly what Nick wants to tell Lori.
"Oh... this is my favorite song!" Lori smiles like a kid.
"Really? I love this song a lot too. Especially the lyrics. Anyways, Lori, do you mind giving me your phone number?"
"What for?" But she is already putting the numbers down on a small piece of note paper.
"Oh... hmm... I mean... we live so close to each other, so we may help each other out sometimes, ya know..."
"I know what you mean. There you go, my cell phone and home phone number."
"Thanks! And here's mine!"
All the way, Nick is trying hard to start a conversation with Lori, but Lori is not really willing to talk about herself. So Nick is always the one talking the whole time.
~ LAPD head-quarter ----- 8:30 am ~
Everybody is talking and laughing while Nathan noticed Mandy is staring at the front door. "What are you looking at Mandy?"
"What??? I'm not looking at anything, get away!"
"Oh... I got it! Mandy is waiting for Nick!!!"
"Shut up Nathan!" Nathan and Mandy started to chase around, hitting each other. Suddenly, Nathan stops and stares at the front door. "Uh-oh..."
Nick and Lori walked in the office together, talking and didn't even notice Mandy is starring at them.
Mandy is so pissed off at what she saw. She went to refill her coffee, conincidently, she overheard Kevin and Brian's conversation.
"hey cuz!"
"hey Kev. I thought you left already!"
"oh... I left my keys here, absent-minded..."
"by the way Kev... don't you think Nick is happier than ever since Lori came?"
"Oh really??? I didn't pay attention to that."
"Maybe I'm being too sensitive."
"Okay... I gotta go, Brian, see ya!"
Mandy is holding so tight onto her cup as she walks out. She joins the others since there's the new operation going on. The LAPD is planning to arrest all the major criminals behind the illegal drug organization, and thus totally stop the drugs trading.
"So, listen up everybody! You guys are going to be divided into groups of three for investigation. This is the biggest drug dealership case we ever have here in LA. So work hard guys! I want all those so-called BOSES arrested!"
"Yes Sir!"
"Also, here's another new member in our team, Howie Dorough." And everybody starts to introduce themselves.
"Howie, just join out 'lucky draw' and see who you're gonna work with. Oh, by the way, I'm Ethen."
The 'lucky draw' begins. Mandy wants to be in Nick's group so badly. Well, her dream comes true... but things are never coming out the way you want it to be. Lori turns out to be in her group too. So Nick, Lori, Mandy are working together as a group.
