~ In the hospital -- Room 130, Alexander James McLean ~
The door opens and AJ looks up.
"Wuz up Nick! hey buddie, thanks for coming!"
"dude, AJ... I was so worried about you!"
"Oh... thanks pal. Wow! Mandy you're here too... and the other beautiful lady, I guess you must be Lori. Hi Lori, I'm AJ McLean."
"Nice to meet you Agent McLean."
"What a polite lady... just kidding... call me AJ."
THey talked up to almost 2 hours. When they're leaving, the ladies walked out of the room first. AJ stopped Nick for a private word.
"Nick, not bad... good choice... start with friendship buddie..."
"AJ, to be honest with you, I'm still not clear on my feelings on her. She's just a very good friend of mine for now. We'll see. Take care AJ!"
~ In Nick's car ~
"Ladies, wanna have dinner together?"
"Sure!"
'Where do you guys wanna go? Hey Lori, you like Japanese food? I know a really good place!"
"k... no prob! How bout u Mandy?"
"of course... I'm okay with whatever Nick says."
~ the EAST restaurant ~
Nick was really having a great time. AJ is fine and his friendship with Lori goes on pretty well. Three of them started to talk about the annual Christmas dinner. It is a traditional thing in LAPD. Everyone needs a date to the dinner. For the past two years, Nick didn't go since he broke up with Joyce. Mandy wants to go with Nick so badly. Last year, she got notified that Nick is not going before she asked. She ended up going with Nathan. But she didn't really enjoy the night. She was about to ask Nick when a guy suddenly walks over to their table.
"Hey Lori! Long time no see!"
"Oh... hi David. How have you been?"
"Fine thanks. Except you're not there with me. I'm just kidding. Having dinner with friends?"
"Yea... they're my partners. This is Mandy and Nick from Major Crimes Department."
"Wow! This is the famous Nick Carter! Cool! Nice to meet you guys! I'm David Johnson."
David Johnson worked in the LAPD Business Crimes Department. He is a very good-looking guy. He is a very talented and smart cop. Lori used to work with him before she transfer to Major Crimes Department at the LAPD headquarter. He liked Lori a lot. Although Lori left the department, he is planning to ask her to the annual dinner.
"Lori, I gotta go now. I'll call you later okay? I gotta talk to you bout something."
"Oh... sure... bye David!"
Before David leaves the restaurant, he looked back and stare at Nick, who's sitting next to Lori. For the 6 months he had been working with Lori, she never went out with her partners, at least not with him. He sensed a change in Lori. Maybe nobody else realized that, but he will since he pays a lot of attention on her.
He decided to take action and ask Lori to be his girlfriend. Lori is a very sweet and nice girl and he gotta take his chance before anybody did.
~The next day -- LAPD headquarter -- 11:00 am ~
Lori is on her way to her desk when she sees everybody surrounding her desk. Nick goes up to her. "Lori, be prepared with a whole bunch of questions..."
"Wait Nick, what's the matter over there? Anything wrong?"
"Go see yourself."
Lori goes up to her desk and finds 99 red roses and a heart-shaped card. She opens the card and it says...
Dear Lori,
I know this is kinda sudden. But can you give me a chance to be the one loving and caring for you? Can I be your lucky one?

Lori is kinda shocked and stays still until Mandy asks her a question.
"Lori, who's this from?"
"David Johnson, the one we met last night.
"Wow! Cool... the good looking guy, you're so lucky Lori!"
Suddenly the phone rings, Lori picks it up, she is expecting it's David on the phone. "Hello?"
"Lori, this is Nick, don't say anything, I'm outside calling you with my cell phone. Meet me at the Central Park at lunch, okay?"
"Sure..." and Lori whispers, "I guess I really need your help."
They just have so many questioins for Lori. Michelle goes up to Lori and asks her to go with her. "Where are you guys going?"
"Oh, Mandy... I got some personal stuff to ask Lori, sorry!"
