Chapter Twelve -- There You'll Be
~ Hong Kong -- August 25 ~
It had been 2 months since I left New York. Although everyday were busy days, there was always a time I was looking forward to everyday. It would be the time when Nick called me up. We talked on the phone every single day, the phone bill would surely be "nice and expensive." But in the past week, I hadn't got any phone calls from Nick, nor being able to call him. I wondered what was going on. I was finally able to ahve a day off. My friends in Hong Kong came over to my hotel room and hung out. Some of my relatives came over too. While they were all chatting, I picked up the phone and called Nick.
<Hey wassup? This is Nick. Sorry I cannot get your call now. Leave a message and I'll call you back. Peace!>
I hung up, looking worried and depressed.
"Who are you calling Lori?" my best friend Javy asked.
"My boyfriend." I smiled. "We haven't talk to each other since last week."
"You never mention you've got a boyfriend." My cousin said.
"Well, we gotta keep it secret to prevent people making a really big deal out of it." I answered. While I was still thinking where Nick might be, someone knocked on the door, I opened the door, and when I looked up...
"Hey Lori! Your bell boy is here!" He smiled.
"Nick?" I threw myself into his arms. I couldn't believe that he came to Hong Kong to see me. "Why are you here?"
"Because I miss you... we have 3 days off and so I fly over here... but fans still recognize me... oh well..."
"That's why you're not picking up the phone last week..."
"I wanna surprise you... so are you surprise?"
"Of course I am!" I kissed him on the cheek and hold his hand. "Come in."
We walked over towards my friends and relatives. I started to introduce all of them to Nick.
"Lori... can't believe this... I mean... he is your boyfriend?"
"Yes. But you guys, please don't tell the media about this... thanks."
~ Hotel Room -- 9:30 pm ~
We finally got to spend sometime alone.
"Nick... I cannot believe you come here to see me. Thank you." I lay my head on his shoulder.
"Lori, I've got something for you."
"What is that?" He hands me a box.
"Open it and see it for yourself."
When I opened the box, it was a ring inside.
"Lori... it's for you. It's my promises to you."
"Thanks Nick. I don't know what to say, but this ring really means a lot to me."
He kissed me.
"Nick, I've got something for you too." I handed him the ring I bought him. It actually surprised me when I got the ring from him because it was almost the same as the one I bought him.
"Lori, you got me a ring too?"
"Nick... based on my understanding, you always wear a ring when you're in a relationship, am I right?"
"Yup... how long are you gonna stay in Hong Kong Lori?"
"Probably two more months Nick... I'm sorry."
"No... no... It's okay... don't worry." He put his arms around me. "Just make sure you take good care of yourself."
~ 6:00 am ~
<KNOCK KNOCK>
the knocking of the door woke me up. We talked til really late last night. When I walked towards the door, Nick was still fast asleep on the couch. I opened the door then, it was Jonathan.
