Chapter Nine -- All That You Can't Leave Behind
~ At the airport -- 5:25 pm ~
It's time for me to go, but I just wanted to wait for 5 more minutes. I have no idea what I was thinking by then... I just kept on asking myself why I am waiting for someone who probably wont' show up...
"Lori, it's final boarding call... come on." Jonathan dragged me in. Suddenly, I heard some girls behing me started to scream. I could not see what's going on, so I just got on the plane.
~ On the other hand ~
Nick made it to the airport. He looked at his watch, it was 5:28 pm. He was making his way to the gate that Lori was leaving at. He ran as fast as he could. But the next thing he knew, he was surrounded by screaming fans and he couldn't got his way through. He saw Lori turned around, probably because of the screaming fans, but she couldn't see him. He tried to Lori's name, but the fans were too loud. All he could do was to see Lori getting on the plane. Nick quietly turned around once Lori was out of his sight, and he headed to the parking garage. The fans could sensed that something was wrong, so they didn't follow him.
Nick drove back to the condo. He took out the keys he got from Lori and opened the door. Lori's house was strangely quiet. He missed her welcome smile and happy face. He slowly walked upstairs and entered her room. He looked at the pictures of them on Lori's desk. Happy memories just kept on flashing back in his mind. With a picture of them in his hand, he realized that he was missing Lori already. All these times, he always thought that he couldn't forget about Winnie, but now he finally found out that without noticing, Lori had replaced Winnie, in a very important part of his heart and his life.
He slowly walked downstairs, while taking one last look at Lori's house, Nick accidentally knocked over the rubbish bin. He kneeled down and picked up pieces of paper back into the bin. He noticed a piece of squeezed paper with its corner opened up. He picked it up and saw "Dearest Nick" written on the corner. He opened the paper up, sat down on the couch and read the letter Lori wrote.
~ Two months later -- Nick's house ~
Brian was hanging out at Nick's house. They were watching TRL. They got a day off.
"Want a drink, Brian?" Nick asked.
"Sure... thx Nick."
NIck was pouring orange juice when suddenly Brian called him over.
"Hey Nick, check this out! It's Lori's new video."
Nick rushed towards the living room with his eyes on tv.
<Hi everybody, this is Lori. I'm sorry I can't be there for the world premier of my new video, I'm now in Hong Kong and hoping to be back in the US soon! I made this video in Hong Kong so I hope you guys like it. Peace!>
After the video...
<Just now, it was the world premier of Lori's new video "Curious" She's now in Hong Kong, but fans, gotta hear this out, if you wanna see Lori..." This caught Nick's attention. <She'll be here in New York tomorrow for the MTV Video Music Awards with a live performance. It is just being confirmed. So be sure to watch the show tomorrow because Lori come back to US just for the award show and will be leaving afterwards.>
"Nick, you gotta go something tomorrow to keep her heart and love." Brian could see what Nick was up to, just based on how different he was since Lori left.
"Brian... but..."
"Nick, honestly speaking, you used not to be so serious about a relationship, I could tell from the way you were when your girlfriends were not around. But this time, I could tell that Lori is different than the others... I mean, look at you, you are upset all the time since Lori left, all of us could see how Lori's affecting you."
"But, she thinks I still likes Winnie."
"Yea... Nick... you said it, she THINKS! just explain it to her... u don't need to say any fancy thing, just tell her what's exactly your feelings are."
