Talk to Me
| Just Breathe Standing there looking down at the bed she wondered why she couldn’t sleep. Of course she was tired, exhausted was more like it. She had a lot of missed sleep to catch up on. But so many thoughts were running through her mind. And the one that kept creeping its way to the front of them all had her standing here looking down at the bed and overriding her fear forcing her to speak. “Nick?” She said it a little louder than she had originally intended. He was flat on his back, arms curled under his head, mouth slightly parted, and very softly snoring. That is until he heard her calling him. Opening his eyes, he smiled, and without saying a word he scooted over in the bed and raised the covers for her to crawl in the bed. Resting her head on the pillow she turned on her side with her back to him. She was nervous and relieved at the same time. Closing her eyes she felt him shift in the bed. Next she felt his fingers combing through her hair, brushing it away from her face. His hand skimmed down her shoulder to her waist before he moved closer and wrapped his arm around her, snuggling in close. She could feel his breath on her ear. It tickled and made her smile. He was warm and she immediately felt relaxed. Nick felt her tense as he moved closer to her, as he touched her. But then, as he pulled her close and breathed in the scent of her hair he felt her body relax against him. He felt and heard her take a deep long breath and slowly exhale. “Goodnight, Kristyne.” “Night, Nick.” A few breaths later they were both in a deep, peaceful sleep.
