CHAPTER 34

Nick stormed back up to the house passing Mike on the way. “Don’t even say a word, Dude!” He snapped as he walked by.

“Wasn’t going to.” Mike was smiling, but of course he knew Nick couldn’t see. After Nick was in the house he laughed and said under his breath, “And so the first lover’s spat has taken place.” Then just shaking his head he followed Nick inside to do damage control. And he seemed to have arrived just in time.

Nick had Greg pinned against the wall by the neck, “What the hell were you thinkin’, pullin’ shit like that in my house!” It wasn’t a question. Nick wasn’t looking for answers at the moment. “I better never find out you’ve ever laid another hand on her, do you understand me.”

“Chill man, it’s not that big of a deal. Besides, she was giving all the signals.”

“Shut the fuck up! Did I ask you anything? Brianna’s not like that, and if you’d have been paying attention to her, instead of your dick, you’d have realized that.” Nick was up in the guy’s face holding his hand back that had the cast on it.

Mike could just see Nick trying to punch this guy with his broken hand. “Alright, that’s enough you two. Nick, no harm no foul. Let it go. Brianna handled things already.”

“Mike, don’t start.”

“No Nick, you stop. This is getting out of control. You keep on getting more and more upset and you’re gonna break that hand again. He worth that?” When Nick let the guy go Mike continued, “That’s what I thought. Look, I say we call it a night, or a morning or whatever. It’s like almost 5 o’clock people. Nick needs to get some sleep, he’s got a flight later on today.”

Nick first shook his head, then sniffed a little with a half smile, and then nodded his head.

One of the girls that Nick had been talking to on the couch looked at the other two and said, “Just friends, huh?” Nick didn’t hear her, but Mike did.

The other girl that didn’t know Brianna spoke up, “But we rode with you guys over here. We didn’t even drive to the club. Can’t we just sleep here?” Unfortunately for her and her friends the one who spoke was one of the one’s that had been annoying Nick earlier.

Nick shook his head no.

Mike saw and added, “Not a good idea. I’ll get a cab to take the three of you home, or where ever. It’ll all be taken care of. Go ahead and get your things so you’re ready. Nick, you can go ahead upstairs if you want. I’ll make sure everyone gets home.” That meant in Mike and Nick terms that everyone leaves soon. “And I’ll lock up afterwards. Anyone else need a cab?”

Nick looked at Mike, “So, you’re gonna stay, right?” It was times like this that Nick was glad that Mike voluntarily stepped into a role of more than just a friend but Body Guard as well. That reminded Nick to talk to someone about Eddie. Shaking his head he realized that was something to be dealt with another day.

“Yup.” Nick started to say something but Mike beat him to it, “And, I’ll make sure she makes it in safe before I go to sleep.” Mike knew he was fixing to ask about Brianna.

“Cool man. Thanks. Night everyone.” Nick said a lot more calmly than he had been just a few minutes earlier. Of course he wouldn’t go to sleep until Bree came inside.
