CHAPTER 42

Looking at it he was temporarily stunned, but quickly recovered and shoved the white pill into his pocket. He pulled her along to the back of the club and pinned her against the wall with his body. “What the hell are you doing with this? When did you start doing Ecstasy?” He was leaning down talking right into her ear so she couldn’t see his face, but she could tell by his voice that he was upset.

“Nick, don’t be mad. Let’s not fight. I hate it when we fight.” She didn’t want people to think there was anything wrong so she wrapped her arms around his waist while talking to him.

“Fight? I’m finally getting used to the idea of you drinking and you go and do something like this?”

“Why is my drinking such a problem? You started way younger than I did.”

“It’s just I worry about you, that’s all. Brianna, this stuff isn’t good for you. You know that?”

“Nick, it’s not like I do it all the time. Just when I go out sometimes.”

“Where did you get this? When did you get this?”

“I brought it with me. Come on, roll with me? I’ve always heard your Backstreet party stories, party with me?”

“No. Oh God!” A light bulb just went on inside Nick’s head. “That’s what was wrong with you last night. You and your friends were doing this at 626, weren’t you?” When he looked at her she didn’t answer and he knew he was right. “I can’t believe this.” He stated walking away from her.

Brianna hid out in the girl’s room for a while. She had honestly thought that he wouldn’t get that mad. He had finally seemed to be treating her like an adult and not sheltering her so much. Once the drug started kicking in she began to relax and decided she wasn’t going to let this ruin the entire night. So she returned to the dance floor.

Tony saw Nick sulking at a booth and walked over to him. “Hey man what’s wrong? Where’s Brianna?”

“I dunno, out there somewhere.” He pointed out to the dance floor.

“So, why are you over here by yourself?”

Nick reached into his pocket and showed Tony what Brianna had given to him. “She’s doing this. Can you believe that?” He was staring at the white pill still completely stunned. But he looked up quickly when he heard Tony laughing. “Dude, I don’t see where this is funny.”

“Nick, when are you gonna let her grow up. It’s not that big a deal. I mean, it’s nothing you yourself haven’t done. And quite recently I might add.”

“But I know what I’m doing.” Nick argued.

“And who’s to say she doesn’t. Just chill, man. Go have a good time. You’ll be back on the road again soon. And you and I know that if things were stressful before, they are gonna be more so, now.” Nick shoved the pill back into his pocket and continued to scowl. “Whatever. Sit here and pout. I love ya, man, but I’m gonna have some fun.”

“Where’s Mike?”

“Somewhere. You’re not gonna leave now are you?”

“I dunno what I’m gonna do.” Tony shook his head and walked away. This was something Nick was going to have to work out on his own.
